Hey,
Glad to join! i JUST joined and it was because of the 'delta-search' malware i got because i needed a video converter from Android to PC. At first it didn't infect but it set up for a future infection. My thought is because it was anticipating being checked after installation.
Anyway, this delta mf is a tricky one and hijacks your browser etc.. I had to remove this manually from the computer, registry (only do this if you know what to do), and the trick part - the tmp file directory.
that is where i found all instances and finally rid myself of this thing. what it does is after you have the software x number of weeks (my guess) it says you need to upgrade to a better version. this means if you update the software you are giving them permission to access your computer. then it asks if you want to use their search engine default search tool. You can read up on what this does but basically it searches and skews the results to the sites they want you to see.
even if you say by unchecking the box you DO NOT want it to be your default search engine, IT STILL INSTALLS IT anyway.
my advice if you get a freeware and use it for awhile, be careful if you get an update notice. do not do it especially if it is functional and doing the job you need it to do.
Attached below is the screen shot of the tmp directory and the executable file with support files just waiting to be run.
