My current configuration is essentially Avast free + Voodoo Shield Free. Is there anything I should add? A few people have recommended I add ZAM for on-demand scanning, but I don't quite see the point as I already have EEK, but I'm no genius. Should I add something extra for real-time protection? I tried OSArmor in the past, but I ran into a lot of problems.

PS I don't mind paying for software so long as it isn't overpriced.

Your set up is good
[QUOTE="feelsdabman, post: 733973, member: 72023] I tried OSArmor in the past, but I ran into a lot of problems.

If you're not comfortable with a software, then it won't be any helpful for you, moreover it would add more nuisance. More software doesn't mean more security. Your setup is compact and powerful and as you are comfortable with it, I don't see the point of wasting money or cpu cycles on any additional software.
Just keep everything updated and don't install sketchy softwares.

The best security apps is the one you can master from head to toe. (of course i don't talk about those that are crap by design ^^ )
This is truly important.
High performance functions demonstrate their abilities with user's knowledge. It is a dangerous practice for those who love the electric shaver to use the knife for perfect shaving.

Those 2 programs are more than enough according to my POV for protection along with EEK. I would recommend scanning with EEK a bit more regularly if you are concerned about security. I would recommend scanning the program files/any other folder like user folder etc. especially chrome or any other browser as nowdays cryptominers can infect it.

You need to balance your paranoia level versus your frustration point. Both of those are good, neither of them is essential.
Well said, I would particularly point out Decentraleyes. It offers a little, but it seems to take away too much. "Store unlimited amount of client-side data", which could be accessed by other extension, webpage, etc. Then again, who am I to talk, K9 logs every webpage I go to and reports it. :giggle:

You can secure your PC with AV/AM, Firewall, HIPS, Anti-Exe, Behavior Blocker, Sandboxing, SRP, hardening Windows etc

And, I suggest you also secure your FF and Waterfox browsers for better privacy and security. If I'm not wrong I think Brave browser doesn't allow you to add extensions.

FYI, Waterfox will be using the older extensions for now unlike FF Quantum

You can read post #37 below for some suggestions

SECURE: Basic - LDoggs Security Setup

I use no AV. My setup software wise is simple Comodo Firewall, OSArmor, UnChechy, Syshardener & VoodooShield. Every single one has a different aspect that I rely in, apart from UnChecky which deals with PUPs, the functions of the rest are obvious.

The setup is very light, but very much locked down.
