building these defenses to the point of no convenience
That's not necessarily the case. We use web apps and office. There are some procedural things that users have to follow. But procedural things becomes habits. Like having to use a certain account for specific things.
The main inconvenience is to the admin.

Hope no offense was taken. I just seen a lot of fear mongering and over kill configurations in my day. One can watch the news and see that reports of 3rd party services and servers are most likely the targets one would have to concern themselves with, where divulging to much of yourself is no longer in your hands.

In your usage case this drastically locked down configuration appears to not affect you as drastically as it would a normal every day user. Although I would still find it unnecessary personally.
