How often should you reinstall your operating system?

I began with a first Clean "System + apps" (all prog I use), just before Windows 10 anniversary.

Now, each time I need : 7 min max to restore my "System + apps"

=> update all (that I know to be working well once updated)
=> new fresh backup.

(Why I need to restore ? Never because of infections )

I do occasional reinstalls , when I feel the need to : sluggishness aka windows rott , and when other problems arrise like trying to uninstall comodo products

Linux systems? every 6 months until I settle down again in a few Distros.

I never re-install Linux. I do fresh install upon each LTS branches. Currently on Xubuntu 16.

I don't stick to one baseline distribution. For example I hardly stay with Ubuntu based for more than 3 months max and go with other bases

Once upon the time, Windows 7 is my choice.

Rarely since I created system image every month and my bootable disc is already prepared to revert any changes as possible; thus save for reinstall of OS.
