They are, now most of the adblockers/webfilters does better job.

+1 but only by original developers of Ad Blocking and Content Blockers (ie. uBlock / uBO, AdBlock Plus, AdBlock etc.)

The ones developed by security vendors (ie. Lavasoft, Malwarebytes, Avast, Comodo) are just copy-cat browser extensions with one or two of their own lists included, to make you switch.
