There is also another problem. If people accept and use a mobile that has a 5 or 7 year life cycle of support and security/firmware patches why can't PC users?
That is the major problem PC users want their hardware and software to last and be supported for 20+ years, changing and swapping hardware and software but there is no incentive for vendors to put so much money into support for 20 years without a continued return on investment. The return fades after 4/5 years and what is left is unsupported hardware and software filled with security bugs and no one to patch them. There is a reason modern pre-built desktops and laptops have 1 year warranty, it's not profitable to offer any more than that!.
IF we can accept iOS/Android walled gardens why can't PC users? It's not cost because modern Apple/Android devices cost just as much as major vendor PC's today.
