When you like UAC to be silent, I would change UAC to elevate silently add a deny elevation of unsigned programs.

Yes, I know, but I mostly use portable SWs located outside c:\Program files and some of them are unsigned (i.e. Dism++), so I'd get a lot of UAC alerts... if only Microsof could add exclusions to UAC...

Yes, I tried to make a shortcut like explained here How to Create a Program Shortcut to Run Without the UAC Prompt in Windows 7
But it's not very convenient, every time you run the SW, you'll see a cmd window blinking for a while...
I've been using this setting for UAC since Vista and I've never had any issue with malware so far

OK, I found this nice piece of SW that makes shortcuts to bypass UAC Download UAC Pass 1.8
So, I have set UAC back to default

It's the first time I use it, but it's very simple, with a wizard to guide you.
You can make a bootable device (CD, DVD or flash USB), then make an image of your hard disk (or partition) to restore later.
It doesn't have nags or ads, so far so good

Back to WD (sandboxed and tweaked by ConfigureDefender).
I didn't see any performance improvement in using KSCF, so I prefer to avoid any possible compatibility issues

I'm going to test this lightweight configuration:

• Panda Dome Free (the lightest free AV I have found)
• K9 web protection (very light web filtering SW)
• Hard_Configurator with Win10 Recomm. Enhanc. Conf. (great tool to apply Windows built-in default-deny settings)
• Chromium portable instead of Firefox (I switched to Firefox because it was lighter than Chromium, but now it seems it's the other way around...)

So far, so good, the PC is very responsive and quiet

Very good additions to your setup. You have all the 3 computing layers covered in Firewall, AV & Backup.

You could try out slimjet, its probably lightest browser since ie but i dont know about privacy

With H_C doubt you even need the antivirus

The problem with Chromium-based browsers is that they always update later than Chromium itself

Yeah, that's why I chosed the lightest, even if detection rate and protection against zero-day is not the best.
Plus, like this Windows Security Center won't complain
