Doesn't come close to windows defender
There is no reason to install it
Yes I definitely agree with that. However, there are many lesser known antiviruses that perform much worse.
As Vitali said, antivirus who are worse than win defender/security shouldn't exist.
Probably not. But there are many antiviruses that are worse than IMF.

Well for majority of machines yes
But not exactly I do believe low resource usage av software should exists as some machines with 2gb or less of ram and hdd , emcc are just too slow for defender

There's no solution that fits all scenarios. I deal with folders with hundreds of files and subfolders and, in my case, Windows Defender slows my machines down to a crawl whenever I access those folders. So, IN MY CASE, it's not a solution I would adopt.

The free version is of course total garbage so the pro version is indeed a step up from it but why do it when there are many free alternatives?

The Pro version uses the Bitdefender SDK. But no Cloud or anything else, like all brands using Bitdefender.
But Iobit Malware Fighter's behavioral blocking is very bad indeed...
To be seen if I look into it at the end of the comparison videos.

But at least it works for minor things, right (PUP, etc)?

IMF does have PUP detection as part of its own signatures. While you certainly can use the free version, which only uses its own signatures, alongside another antivirus, there's really not much point. Aside from having terrible malware detection, it's not great at detecting PUPs either. For detecting PUPs, you'd be much better off using Malwarebytes. There's very little that IMF will detect that Malwarebytes won't.

IMF is an absolute joke, and I would rather ##### in my hands and clap than use any IOBit product.

Nearly every single IOBit product has multiple, recurring vulnerabilities in their kernel modules.
What makes me laugh even more is that I tested the latest version of the IMFForceDelete driver (7.x) and rediscovered this vulnerability from *2019*

The single, solitary good thing about IMF is that it's bundled with BitDefender, aka they use someone else's SDK.
I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy, and I hope the developers of this garbage find God and have a spiritual awakening that leads them away from the keyboard.

If anyone from IOBit is reading this, I will leave you with this:
