Is Iolo System Mechanic still effective and relevant in 2020? Will it make any difference to my slow PC?

In my opinion it's not very good. While not being terrible, it falls far short of the highly misleading claims that iolo make about it. As well, recent versions have actually removed some features that were in previous versions.

One good thing I can say, is that I no longer get a barrage of emails from iolo whenever they are about to release a new version, which make misleading claims (which do sound impressive - even if they're not true) about how much better at speeding up your computer the new version is than previous versions.

I agree with roger_m, the free version has been reduced to basically a junk file cleaner, most other options have been removed.

I wasn't referring specifically to the free version. A number of features have been removed from the paid version too.
