Is there a 7-Zip alternative which looks for updates?

I've noticed with 7-Zip is doesn't check itself for updates of software releases so I am wondering if there's an alternative to 7-Zip which has this function, I don't wish to add another pice of software which checks for updates of other software(s), which means I would have to keep that updated as well xD

I know you mentioned not wanting another tool to update and its a bit different from what you want but try PatchMyPC portable app to update. It supports several popular softs, doesn't have ads or similar harmful objects.

You could detect an update with a website change detection tool on the 7-Zip changeLog page.
