Well
Protection KIS>ESS
Performance KIS>= ESS
Memory Usage ESS>KIS
Features KIS>ESS
User Interface KIS=ESS

So KIS>ESS

I am a very old user of ESET SS.
Performance: ESET is far better than KIS on basis of performance
Memory Usage: On Ideal ESET has more ram usage as compared to KIS but whereas if we when scan is going on KIS is very heavy of system on PC as compared to ESET.

Yes on all others i agree with you.

Which is better in following:
  • Protection= Kaspersky is better
  • Performance=ESET SS gives great performance
  • Memory Usage=ESET SS uses less memory(50-70MB)
  • Features=Kaspersky has more
  • User Interface=Kaspersky(new) better than ESET(because its still same old)

Which is better in following:
  • Protection = Both are pretty much equal there is no better between both of them
  • Performance = ESET is a bit faster however KAV becomes faster overtime as it creates snapshots of your files.
  • Memory Usage = ESET starts out better but KAV will use less memory overtime depending on settings.
  • Features = KAV has a edge here as there are loads of features however ESET does have some hidden features as wel.
  • User Interface = KAV hands down.
However let me point out that protection has 3 extra modules that should be mentioned:

  • Removal Capacity & Options = KAV has a big edge over ESET
  • Ability to reverse damage = KAV and ESET are very close matched.
  • Self Protection againt AV killing techniques = KAV hands down.
But then again KAV and ESET are so close matched in every sense that i am not going to pass judgement.
But personally KAV feels just a bit better to me.

u all r wrong :D

Protection - ESET owns great url filtering/web protection , strong real time protection , owns good on-demand scanner , good firewall & BB with advanced PUP detection then any AV present in market. Kaspersky owns everything same as ESS but is lack in on-demand scan & detection of PUP. Tested both KIS & ESS in infected PC & both have capabilities to clear infected computer.

Performance : ESS hands down coz it's lighter then KIS & u won't feel any system slow down. i installed KIS in my pc some months ago & i feels slow down. KIS makes computer boot & system startup slow down a bit compare to ESS . KIS scans specially full pc scan takes longer time then ESS.

Memory Usage : ESS cpu usage is low compare to KIS , can't tell ram usage but i think there is not much difference between ESS & KIS in ram usage.

Features : ESS -> Antivirus, Antispyware, Anti-theft, Anti-phishing, Personal firewall, Antispam, Exploit blocker , Parental control, Social media scanner, Game mode, Advanced memory scanner, Vulnerability shield, portable device control & cybersecurity training.

Kis- > Real time protection, Hybrid protection , Intelligent scanning & updates, Anti-phishing, Two-way firewall , Anti-spam, Online banking, rollback & parental control.

Both are almost equall in features except KIS owns rollback &inteliigent scanning & updates like features where ESS owns Anti-theft, advanced memory scanner & exploit blocker like features. ESS price is almost twice as KIS ( in my country) & both techinacl support is good.

UI - KIS 2014 owns pretty good UI but it's 2015 beta version UI looks not good. ESS owns simple UI, so if we compare KIS 2015 beta & ESS 7, both are equal.

Your first sentence made me laugh a lot. :D
Really, All things i said was all right & similar to yours, so don't tell that i am wrong :D.

I don't agree with you on the basis Memory usage,

Protection:
Now after using KIS 2014, i think ESS & KIS provide almost similar protection.

Memory Usage:
When PC is kept Ideal Kaspersky has a ram usage of less than ESS but whereas at time of scan Kaspersky has a very high ram usage & CPU usage than ESS.

Below is KIS Ram usage when PC is kept ideal & ESET has ram usage of 100 MB.
Untitled.png

Performance:
Really KIS 2014 is faster from the older version of KIS but still ESS is much more Faster & Lighter than KIS on the system with ESS there is no system slow down.

Features:
After reading your content, i think they have almost similar features.

User Interface:

They both have good Interface. Nothing more to say on this Topic.

I love ESET more because of following reasons:

  • ESS has smaller update size.
  • Not at all system slow even while scanning.
  • ESS provides awesome protection
  • Decent Features
  • I don't need to buy it - Secret (I do not use any cracks)
But its PUP features detects one of the famous software as PUP, Which i hate.

I would always suggest KIS & ESS for a home user.
ESS & KIS are affordable(Cheap) in INDIA.

Koroke San, you forgot that KIS has ZETA-Shield and Automatic Exploit Prevention, both being anti-exploits. These technologies existed before ESET's anti-exploit protection, well, at least the AEP. ZETA-Shield has just been introduced to home users with version 2014, but it has already been integral to Kaspersky's enterprise editions.

It's like comparing Schwarzenegger to Brus Lee :p

Kidding! :D

Well, this is maybe the most typed AV VS AV on Google, and for me who is better is probably the best on the market.
I use ESET but I respect Kaspersky.
RAM usage doesn't mean anything (except for those computers with 512mb of RAM or less)
System responsiveness is better with ESET than Kaspersky, ESET has advantages like lightness, faster scanning, faster cleaning, better detection of PUP's, smaller updates...
Kaspersky on the other hand has better firewall, better "app control", better removal and remediation of the damage, and probably slightly better detection rate.
It's really hard to say who is better.
If I ever want to buy an AV it would be ESET or Kaspersky...
Thanks :)

The key word is in here "System responsiveness" ;) Thanks Bora.

I don't like these comparisons for obvious reaosns, but I will agree with Bora's statement:
If I ever want to buy an AV it would be ESET or Kaspersky...
(I would also add F-Secure to that list);)
I have used Eset from time immemorial, and with a bit of common sense, have very rarely had a problem with malware infections!
Thanks!:)

But KIS on demand scan test still behind against ESS posted results by various users in virus exchange & by AV tester in yt. KIS on-demand scanning speed is slow compare to ESET even it's free virus removal scanning tool is very slow & i think no one wants to wait for a slow scanning speed. Plus 100 ram usage is not matter if u have installed 4 gb or more ram. I felt slow down when i did full pc scan with KIS. and if u search google or kaspersky forum many users reported they still feel slow down maybe there pc is bit slower or they didn't excluded KIS with other security products. And if u look malwaredoctor KIS 2015 beta review, it's UI change & 2014 UI is better then 2015 beta plus ESS is not cheap in india, it cost around Rs1,700 .

Yes you are right Ram Usage never matter, the thing matters is its impact on system.
Even do i noticed that ESET detection rate is better than Kaspersky(On Seeing many the post on MT)

The Online Price is always very High, The Price at ESS is available in markets is Just Rs600 ($10) or Even low.

Kaspersky Internet Security's Price is around Rs525 ($8) or even low.

I have no idea why in markets place there price is low when their official website show different price
