my personal opinion is that kaspersky is safe and has been shown to be safe at the user/company protection level, and has its processing servers in safe countries, but what worries me is that if i remember correctly, russia, like other countries, has a law to be able to take over a company for their own purposes, if I remember correctly the same thing happened with Telegram, now that it happens or not we will never know for now, what we do know is that Kaspersky will be harmed in the short and long term.

For now, I will continue using Kaspersky, since I don't want to go into alarmism / sensationalism, if I had a company I could change it, but for personal users I don't think it will be the center of attention for the Russian government.

Kaspersky's products are excellent, but they've been caught offguard by Putin's stupidity. They are in a difficult situation now and they will surely be affected by the war in Ukraine...inevitable.
Kaspersky is suffering Collateral Damage from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Many countries are imposing sanctions on Russia and Kaspersky will lose thousands of users (among them, I have used it for many years and have now uninstalled it from all my computers)
maybe kaspersky has nothing to do with putin but .............
therefore I do not want to know anything about kaspersky
P.S. my country does not use russian gas they bring it from algeria

Sometimes everything depends on the opinion you have about the country on which you are going to impose sanctions and the trust you have in the politicians who are in charge.
All russians are not like putin but the russian executive power is not very transparent.
Until now my favorite antivirus was Kaspersky, recent events have changed my mind, call me an alarmist but I prefer another antivirus on my computer.
It's my opinion, maybe I'm wrong.

I agree that not all Russians are like Putin, but I do not understand why in their history they chose only dictators. And they always felt the need to have a master.
I didn't make my decision to not use a Russian product in this circumstance. I never wanted to have anything to do with them.

One opinion is that given Russia's immense size any form of central government had to be fairly authoritarian to hold it together rather than having a whole host of regional powers developing and splitting the nation apart... plus they seem to respect strong leaders and have a general disdain for the west's decadence. On Kaspersky I'd suggest they get out of Russia especially as the bright, educated, younger people seem to want to leave too! Who knows what Putin and co could ask of these tech companies in the future so there'll be question marks in many end-users minds now anyway which could hit their business.

None of this is the fault of the ordinary Russian citizens or Kaspersky.
Any anti-Russian feelings are directed towards the Kremlin government and NOT the normal people of that country.

I really like Kaspersky products and hope they survive. But if their number of subscribers declines significantly, they may struggle to collect enough malware samples and the quality of their products may suffer as a consequence.

As I said on different thread, this may be a good time for a complete rebrand or to even sell the company. Even though its very unfair on Kaspersky, I think they may need to get out of Russia if they want to retain people's trust around the world.

My few post here on MT according to Kaspersky issue been removed so I don't want to duplicate situation...but some things to rethink:
- The Polish Information Processing Society published more than week ago appeal about not using Russian software and of course as a consequences of war on Ukraine...this post was removed also
- why Kaspersky's VPN service passed in 2019 verification of Roskomnadzor and all ather competitors not?
- perhaps everyone knows that Kaspersky moved servers and offices to Switzerland...but who knows that installator if their products and AV engine still have to connect with "Kaspersky Lab AO" in Moscow and no connection to Switzerland?

Kaspersky is a piracy friendly AV. What I mean is, it only detects real malware that damages the system. It doesn't usually detect cracktool/hacktool/keygen that only let's say activate a certain paid program but don't do anything harmful. The things that you downloaded probably were safe, those were not malicious, so Kaspersky didn't detect those.
Unfortunately because of this 'unique' behavior and up to 60 million Russian systems using Kaspersky (even more after foreign antivirus cut off their sales inside Russia), the government legalization of piracy will be much more effective.

Is Ukraine the same as Irak, Iran, Libia, Afganistan, etc. just wondering.
I can tell you the USA has nothing to do with any of those countries, they in it for their own personal benefit, they don't care about the conflict at all.

When the US invaded other countries did anyone here stopped using US products like Windows OS, MS Office, Apple, Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro etc............just wondering

In the case of Libya (2011), participated by NATO members including the US, the 'military intervention' was kind of justified by UN Security Council Resolution, so it's not the same in terms of legality. After this event ended then broke up the second war with the US as the major foreign participant in the second intervention.

In terms of people's "awareness" of boycotts, I think they are all not the same. Not sure how people will react if there's an unjustified war (murder) by countries outside Russia (we always hoping for no war) after the current Russian invasion of Ukraine. They might much more likely to consider (thoughtful or just blindly) stopping using antivirus, OS, hardware, or any products from (insert the invader here).

When your own country has been under Bolshevik terror for over 50 years, as was the case in Romania, the vision is clearly different!

This article says it all.
Just another 'Opinion' article though?

If's, buts and maybes?

If everything they say is true, and the power is there to force them to do whatever, why only mention this now? 7 years ago they where hailing it as a 'Great Product' - Update: Kaspersky: Great product, dreadful installation/upgrade process
