So 3 weeks ago a court decided that "liking" a post/comment / whatever on social media CAN BE A CRIME
If you like something Insulting , racist , hate or anything illegal you could get Penalized with fines , to Huuge fines , and even jail of up to 2 years even Instantous Home invasions from the Police could happen JUST FOR LIKING THINGS.

Small Tl,dr to how it happened that this court decision was made.
It all started with one dude posting on facebook "No silcence for the Dead policemen and these are Creatures" which is a Misdemeanor to the Dead ( illegal in Germany ) Which then someone " Liked "
Which the state said "he did a crime with that like" and ordered a Home Search ( Like no warning , no letter , no invitation to the Police a INSTANT home search for a like ) with a Warrant of that dude that "liked the post"

The Logic behind this is that if you "like" something you make this Statement your own.

Which makes it more Dangerous.
Lets Say Theoretically a Right wing Politican says " Brown people bad , But we also need to Push education" if you like this Post now for the Education part YOU COULD BE in danger for Racism.

Also you could by accident click things , or even worse have Viruses developed aiming at germans now Literarily Liking bad things which is already crazy enough.

Now in Germany law wise its a Hot topic what is a "like" legally wise , What does a "like" mean , Theoretically this could now go overboard entirely privacy and law wise.
also in the room is now if you with a "like" approve of certain crimes which is another crime and more.

the police raided dude got every electronical device taken from him.

So should I "like" your post, or "sad" your post? Interesting post, glad you made it (like) but I find the content "disturbing" (sad)

Well, I wonder if Germany still has a painful conscience with regard to World War II. Hot and difficult topic, for sure. Great share, thanks! (y)

The answer to this question is off course YES. The past is always in the background in any policy or government decision. But the good news is the world has changed for the better. Most of the older pro nazi or old racist world view of society has died out with time and what is left is a very educated, multi-cultural and accepting of differences in race/sex/gender and they are now the majority of society. I believe this to be the case anyway, other people may disagree and feel free to do so.

I honestly don't know.

The lawyer also scratched the topic that most websites don't provide a "down vote" Or "hate" button, in general the best to do right now in Germany isa Make a new social media account via a non logging vpn.

Use a fake name, never access it without vpn.
And don't like things it's anyway better to run a vpn 24/7 in Germany and not to use social media too hard cause of our copyright mafia it's anyway dangerous if you post pictures and stuff.
