Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST).
Choose the 32 or 64 bit version for your system.
and save it to a folder on your computer's Desktop.
Ensure that you are in an Administrator Account
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Check the boxes as seen here:
L7kNU5y.jpg

Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Please attach the logs for my review.
How to attach a file to your reply:
In the Reply section in the bottom of the topic Click the "more reply Options" button.

Let me know what problems persists.

Wait for further instructions

p.s.
This program is updated often.
If it's identified as suspicious by your Anti-Virus program trust it if Downloaded from the link I provided.
OR, you should restore the program from the Quarantine folder.

This is what happens when I try to download FRST

Then when I try to open FRST, it opens in Firefox. Do you think it's possible that I can download 7zip download manager?SavedOnWin10.png

when I click on the icon nothing really happens.

Hi,

There is no need to unzip the downloaded program

Windows Defender or your 3rd party security program may quarantine the download.
My note in my reply.

I thank you for having patience with me.

It's not Windows Defender and when I checked Avast Anti-Virus it has 0 quarantined items. I also changed open-with to IE and it is showing that my browser crashed.

No problem,

The download worked, but only worked with one browser, that's Google Chrome.

I would like to keep my browsing history on Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Firefox.

Hi,

Nothing suspicous was found in your logs.

However traces of Mcafee arefound and should be deleted.

These are remnant of McAfee being uninstalled incorrectly may be the reason.

Mcafee.
I suggest your download and run their uninstaller tool from this site.

Restart the computer when the removal is completed.
------

The operating system is managing the space on the computer at the moment I do not see any problems.
Is the computer running well?

On the page it says that I need to activate, before I can uninstall and I went to a similar page and it wants me to sign up (email address, etc.) before I can activate. Do you think I should go through the steps?

This situation has been hard for me to understand (losing storage), but time will tell if removing Mcafee was just what I needed. Here are the logs.

That looks much better, I'm still in a predicament as far as storage goes, I'm at 171 free space. It's forcing me to use my CCleaner a lot. I think that somewhere on my pc, bad files or junk is piling up.

Hi,

I do not why you are obsess with free space.

Many if not all running program do create temporary files. Unfortunately these program do not clean after they are closed.

If you insall new programs or get Windows update chich also creats a Restore point all will take space on your computer.

If you need more informtion on this you should check in this Forum. Users will be able to help with your questions.

Ok, thanks, I just thought because I was losing space so fast that it was feasible to be concerned, but just randomly I went from 161 GB to 174 GB and now I'm at 184 GB free space.
