I've attached the files you requested. I ended up running Malwarebytes's Anti Rootkit twice on the laptop because I was having problems getting the Update Database to finish - "Host not found" kept getting displayed after about 20 secs or so. Looked into this a bit and one solution I read involved re-configuring my modem which I didn't fancy doing. Also strangely when I came to run the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool again on the laptop it updated to a new version i.e created a new exe and put the old one in an "old version" directory. However when I ran this new version Windows 8 complained the App wasn't compatible and wouldn't run. Again I had to download the new version again from the desktop and run it from the USB stick. [QUOTE="Dave Balfour, post: 323081, member: 32455"] Hi TwinHeadedEagle, Thanks for the reply and the help. I eventually downloaded the database again on my desktop through the same modem and ran the updated version on the laptop from a USB stick so I guess this might just be another symptom of the laptop's issues ?? Also strangely when I came to run the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool again on the laptop it updated to a new version i.e created a new exe and put the old one in an "old version" directory. However when I ran this new version Windows 8 complained the App wasn't compatible and wouldn't run. Again I had to download the new version again from the desktop and run it from the USB stick. Files are as follows :- mbar-log-2014-12-28 (15-49-11) - 1st Anti-Rootkit log (database NOT up to date - removed one piece of malware) system-log-1st - 1st System-log prior to Database update mbar-log-2014-12-28 (17-22-09) - 2nd Anti-Rootkit log (database NOW updated - found no malware) system-log-2nd - 2nd System-log Database updated FRST.txt - Scan Tool update from latest downloaded tool Addition.txt - Scan Tool update from latest downloaded tool Thanks again !
