Hello, MT!
I just joined the forum as a new member and I hope you'll help me fit into here..

That's my security configuration. I only have 8,0 GB of RAM and 2 MHz processor
so I'm looking for something lightweight (and FREE). I would like to know your opinion on my
configuration and maybe some advice/proposals.

Thanks...

Update: UAC enabled at default / Norton ConnectSafe

Looks good! Thanks for sharing your config :)
Having KTS 2016 I would consider using MBAM Premium as an on demand scanner only

So far so good, in the case of extensions then likely you need one Adblocker (choose one) + remain two plugins from Kaspersky + remain HTTPS Everywhere + and remain Lastpass for better optimization.

Hello @MalwareAnalysis

I see you use Adblock Plus and ublock, I don't see the need to use them both.
Definitely better ublock.
Enable UAC if not.

Very strong security setup, thanks for sharing :)

Alright lets see this config:
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit(x64) (Great is it updated and legit?)
OS Architecture: 64-bit (x64)
Computer Knowledge: Expert
Last malware infection: Just finished cleaning up my infected computer (Did your VM or AV fail? or where you careless?)
Malware Samples and Phishing sites:
  • Yes, I download Malware samples
  • Yes, I visit Phishing sites
Number of users for this PC:
Single user account (Private)
All user accounts are password-protected
Real-Time Protection:
-Kaspersky Total Security 2016.
-Malwarebytes Anti-Premium with license.
-HitmanPro 3.7
On-demand scanners:
-(on USB stick)
-AdwCleaner,
- TDSSKiller,
- EEK,
-HitmanPro 3.7
Privacy and Optimisation:
-Truecrypt
-Glary Utilites Pro with License
-CCleaner
Backup and Recovery:
-Windows Backup
-System Restore
Web Browser: Chrome x64 (sandboxed permanently in Sandboxie), IE
Extensions and Plugins:
-Lastpass <<< Why lastpass if you got KPM (See below)
-µblock
-HTTPS Everywhere <<< While https Everywhere holds some merit its effectiveness is questionable specially because most malwaresite do not use https and as such the addon is being sidelined.
-AdBlock Plus
-WOT
-TrafficLight <<< Inferior to Kaspersky
-Kaspersky Protection
-Kaspersky Password Manager <<< You already got lastpass.
Other Software: -Virtual Box (Win7 & Kubuntu)
Maybe it looks good as a config but there is just to much you do not need specially if you are running chrome in perm sandbox.
Kaspersky Total and MBAM Prem both got 80% of all your addons covered.
There is a thin line between a balanced and good security and a UBER yet fake security.
All these addons and tools you are using while good individually on a system, they also create to much resource drain and they really do not contribute that much to your security infact i would even venture to say that with so many apps and tools you are actually running a fake security. Well not fake but it gives a false sense of security. We see this with many members having a "popular" config yet it is really not as strong as it sounds and looks, specially if you got K-Total and Mbam running, if they cannot solve it then in likelyhood none of your security can.

Other then that i am happy to see you made a effort to get something that works for you, and with that in mind i would give you a 3 out of 5 rating which makes you "average"
Sounds harsh but "average" is pretty good compared to most hopeless configs we see on a daily basis.

Kind Regards
Nico

I concur with redundancies that are just overlap:
  • Keep µblock, ditch Adblock; the former is far faster
  • Pick one: WOT, TrafficLight, Kaspersky; I'd just stick with K
  • I'd disable K's password manager; I don't want my substantial password db tied to an unrelated product (what if you switch a year from now?) and I haven't seen anything come close to LastPass in convenience and usability
I'm curious how Hitman interacts with a Sandboxied browser...
