MBAE standalone has no final build. It is a perpetual beta product because it's incorporated into MalwareBytes v3.x
Thanks for the info. However, stable release is updated only on the information above. Now the installed final Mbai is updated to the version 1.09.1.1403.

I've been using the stand-alone free version of MBAE for some time , and I like(d) it just fine .
Now the notification area icon ( in W7 ) no longer appears , and it is irritating me !

Has anyone else noticed this ?

I like to check the hidden icons ( bottom right ) when I first boot up , and MBAE is one of the things I expect to see running.
Sure , I can check in Task Manager and see that it is auto-running from boot , but that is a PITA !

Before posting this , I checked the logs and I see that a silent update was done on May 10th .

Nothing I have tried will get that icon back and I'm guessing that a registry key was changed .

I see from their website that it is now bundled into Malwarebytes 3 , but I wouldn't want that on my system ,
even if it was free !

Call me cynical , but this looks like a deliberate attempt to push long term users toward the paid product ,
by the simple tactic of irritating them to do it !

Any thoughts , fixes , similar experiences anyone ?

:)

Thanks for the feedback , but it kind of confirms what I suspected ...

Just out of interest , what features of the Premium version do you think are worth paying for ?
.... I ask out of general curiosity because paid versions of some of my favorite apps don't actually offer me anything that I want .

Btw does anyone know where MBAE saves its configuration settings? I dislike setting up my shields every time I install a new update. You would think it would just keep the settings untouched.

Edit: Nvm found it hiding in ProgramData.

Is MBAE still useful in Fall Creators Update when you have Windows' Exploit Protection enabled?
