i think it's 1 year license ( for minor updates )

, but you can use it forever

If I'm not mistaken, updates in 1 year calender. After 1 year calender, there's no more minor or major updates. The license still valid in lifetime but no more minor or major updates unless you have to pay for the major updates. Please refer to official website of idm.
