I usually use VLC and Media player classic... but they're not very good handling http streams - they hangs, or go in an infinite buffer (with or without tweaking their buffer options). The same about kodi, but using a media center just to play streams sound a bit silly.

I sometimes use gomplayer (yes, I aware about adwares bundled in the installer) and it works better, but then again sometimes hang and crash (but it handles the flux better than VLC and MPC).

For now, I'm trying windows media player, a bit slow, with some buffer hangs.

There's some specific software to use only to play/buffer such streams?

Take a look at PS3 Media Server, it is a DLNA server that pretty much streams anything to anything. Does not require having an account on anyone's servers or reaching out to the internet to work
