Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: New features for Copilot in Excel and more

We are once again checking out the Microsoft 365 roadmap website to see the new entries that have been put in for updates to the company's many productivity apps. This week didn't have a flood of new entries as has been the case for the last few weeks, but there are still some interesting new features to look forward to.

• Excel users on the PC, Mac, and the web will get a helpful new Copilot feature later in July.
• The new Outlook for Windows app will get a new keyboard shortcut in September.
• In August, Outlook web users will be able to quickly add an account to their Outlook mobile app.
• Web users of Outlook will get some extra help when they use Copilot to draft a document in September.
• Those same Word on the web users will get another Copilot draft improvement in September.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: New features for Copilot in Excel and more

In this week's look back at new entries on the Microsoft 365 roadmap website, Excel will soon get a new feature that will allow users to preview table data changes by Copilot before applying them.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Check out all the upcoming Outlook improvements

Welcome back to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly column for this week. This time, we are doing something a little different. The roadmap site had a ton of upcoming features and updates for Microsoft's various Outlook apps this week, and there wasn't much else that was interesting to us. So, this column will be all about Outlook entries.

• We will start with a feature that's included in the classic Outlook for Windows app that's finally coming to the new Outlook app and on the web later in July.
• Another feature that will be added to the new Outlook app and on the web in September concerns its calendar functions.
• Sometime in August, the new Outlook Windows app and the web version will get some meeting recap features.
• Some changes to the Sort and Filter options will be added to the new Outlook Windows app and on the web in August.
• Android and iOS users of Outlook will be able to chat with Microsoft's Copilot AI chatbot starting in August. In November, the Android Outlook app is scheduled to add the email auto-advance setting.
• Finally, users of the classic Outlook app for Windows will get some new Copilot features in the near future.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Check out the new features coming to Teams

It's time once again to take a look back at last week's new entries that were put in the Microsoft 365 roadmap website. Last week, we decided to make the column all about the new Outlook features that are coming soon. This week, we will do the same for all the Teams features that are due in the coming weeks and months.

• In September, users for Teams on the desktop will get some new camera features.
• If you work with Teams as an IT admin for education organizations, you will also get some new features in September for all platforms.
• The desktop and Mac versions of Teams will get some new webinar and town hall features in September.
• If you use Teams on iOS and Android, you will be able to be invited to join a presentation with the external presenter feature in September. Also, desktop and Mac users for Teams will be able to receive a notification in their Activity feed when an intelligent meeting recap is ready in September as well.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Copilot will soon help you make videos in Clipchamp and more

The Microsoft 365 Roadmap website definitely took a little bit of a vacation this week. There were not a lot of new entries added in the past seven days. However, there were enough interesting new additions that we can talk about.

• Perhaps the most interesting new listing for an upcoming feature is one that will be added to Clipchamp sometime in September. The easy-to-use web-based video editor will soon add support for accessing Microsoft's Copilot digital AI assistant.
• In other Microsoft 365 Roadmap news this week, people who use the Outlook app for iOS and Android will get a new composing feature in September.
• Also, there's an entry this week about Outlook for Mac adding calendar support in Online Archive. However, the entry also says this feature is not scheduled to be added until June 2025, so you have a long wait.
• Microsoft Viva users also have a long wait for an upcoming Copilot addition to Viva Goals. The preview is available now but the site says it won't officially launch until June 2025.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: New Lists features in Sharepoint are coming soon

Welcome back to our weekly look at what was added to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website over the past seven days. This week, the site has quite a few new additions for the List apps in Sharepoint that will be coming in the next few weeks and months.

• In September. the Roadmap site says the Lists app will add a new notification.
• Another feature that's due in September will add a scheduling feature to Lists.
• In November, Microsoft will add an attachment feature to Lists.
• Also in November, Lists will include a new way to add branching to forms.
• In non-Lists posts on the Roadmap site, Microsoft has confirmed that it plans to add the Intelligent Recap feature in Microsoft Teams for its Government Community Cloud High (GCC-H) customers in September.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Teams will add a hub for all teams and channels in October

Welcome back to our regular weekly look back at the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website, highlighting new entries that have been added in the past seven days.

• A few weeks ago, The Verge's Tom Warren reported that Microsoft was working on some user interface changes for Microsoft Teams that would combine both its text chat and channels with a new UI design. This week, the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site added a new entry that seems to suggest something similar to what Warren reported would be added to the desktop version in October.
• The roadmap website also indicates there will be a number of improvements to the Mesh virtual meeting feature for Teams users in October. One of them, for the desktop and Mac platforms, will add Teams chat in Mesh events.
• Another Mesh feature coming to the desktop and Mac versions of Teams in October will improve interactions in multi-room Mesh meetings.
• There are also some new audio features coming to Mesh for Teams in October.
• In November, Mesh users in Teams for desktop, Mac, and Android platforms will add Microsoft Whiteboard support.
• Getting away from Teams and Mesh entries, the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site also revealed that Copilot in Microsoft 365 will add prompt suggestions in Copilot chat in September, along with image generation as well.
• Finally, the new Outlook for Windows and the web will add a feature in October that will add an "always on" function. This will let users see who is in the office based on their work hours and location.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: The new Planner app is coming to the web soon and more

Welcome back once again to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap weekly update, showing you some highlights of upcoming productivity features. This week has more new entries than usual, so let's get to it.

• Earlier this year, Microsoft released its updated Planner app for Teams users. This week, the roadmap site showed that Planner for web users will be coming in October.
• People who use the new Outlook for Windows app will get a new Narrator feature in November.
• There were some other Outlook updates on the roadmap site this week. They included adding a way to sort meeting attendees on Windows and the web in the tracking list alphabetically and a way to filter meeting attendees by name. Both features are due in November. In September, Outlook users on the web and Windows will be able to copy the list of attendees to the clipboard from an Outlook calendar event.
• The new Outlook Windows app will also get a new multi-account feature in the near future.
• This feature will roll out in November. In the same month, iOS and Android Outlook users will get some new formatting options.
• Finally, Mac users of Outlook will soon be able to access their OneDrive cloud account in the Outlook app. This will launch in preview form in September, followed by a full launch in October.

This week, Microsoft revealed that its new Planner app will be coming to the web very soon, and Outlook will support the reading of emails in Narrator.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Teams will soon add guest access for Mesh events and more

We start the new month of September 2024 with a look at the final seven days of August for new entries on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website. This time, we have new entries for Teams and Outlook users.

• Teams users who also use the Microsoft Mesh PC app to hold virtual 3D meetings will be able to invite guests sometime in October, according to a new roadmap entry.
• Another feature scheduled for Teams in October for the desktop and Mac versions will help improve searches in those apps.
• Also in October, Teams for desktop and Mac will add support for biometric data exports.
• Turning to Outlook, desktop and Mac users will be able to put in new info in the My Day pane in September.
• Also, in September, Outlook for desktop and Mac users will be able to create an event in the Calendar by dragging and dropping an email into the Calendar icon.

Welcome once again to our weekly look back at what's been added to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website for the past week. This week there are a couple of new Outlook listings for future features that should be interesting to users.

• It's hard to believe but the "new" Outlook for Windows app currently needs an internet connection to be opened or restarted. That will finally change sometime later in September, according to the roadmap entry.
• There's also a new calendar feature coming in December to the new Outlook for Windows app.
• Moving on to Microsoft Teams, people who use the iOS or Android Teams apps will get a new video feature in November.
• Desktop and Mac Teams users are getting a new feature in October for BYOB notebook users at the office.
• Finally, Microsoft Edge browser users on Macs will get a new feature related to Teams in October.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Teams will launch a new calendar feature in November

Welcome once again to our weekly look at what's new on the Microsoft 365 roadmap website. In case you are not aware, the site offers up info on what's to come from Microsoft's productivity apps.

• This week, the site has posted word that there will be a new calendar feature added to Microsoft Teams sometime in November for PC and Mac platforms.
• The listing also says that the new calendar feature in Teams will actually be turned off by default, but can be enabled by clicking on that "New calendar" toggle when it rolls out.
• Another feature that's coming in November for Teams on the PC, iOS, and Android platforms is targeting meeting organizers.
• Moving on from Teams, Microsoft has announced that Outlook for the PC, web, iOS, and Android apps will get a better way to organize their emails via Copilot in December.
• Finally, there's a new listing that shows that Copilot Chat will be added to the web version of OneNote sometime in January 2025.

We missed a week of updates to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website last weekend. The reason was that your humble author of this feature was located in the middle of Hurricane Helene when it hit in late September. Things are slowly getting back to normal, so let's look at the updates on the site from the past seven days.

• The roadmap says Microsoft Teams will be adding some new features for chatting in Town Hall live events in November for the desktop, iOS and Android.
• In December, Teams for the desktop and Mac will include some improvements for Microsoft List links.
• Also, in December, Teams for all supported platforms will get some new moderator features.
• For people who use the new Outlook for Windows, Microsoft will be adding some people module improvements sometime in February 2025.
• Outlook for Windows and the web will also add four new themes sometime in November as well.
• Finally, the Edge web browser will get some new settings improvements in December.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Teams will soon get some new people search improvements

It's time once again for another look back at the past week's new entries that have been added to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website. As always, these new listings can, and sometimes do, change their release dates so keep that in mind.

• As usual, some of the most interesting new entries on the Roadmap site are for users of Microsoft Teams. One of the entries says that Teams users on the desktop and Mac platforms will get some improvements in November in terms of searching for people.
• The desktop version of Teams will get another new feature in November designed to help users learn how to say the names of others.
• This feature will also be added to Outlook at some point.
• On the desktop and Mac platforms in November, Teams will get some extra security features.
• In January 2025, all Teams platforms will get another security-related feature for meeting organizers.
• The roadmap also had some new entries for Outlook users. In November, the Outlook mobile apps will get two new new features. One will help with receipts in emails.
• The other new mobile Outlook feature is for Copilot Business Chat users.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Outlook will get better mail merge features and more

Welcome again to our weekly look back at the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website as we check out some new entries. This week there are some new features on the site that it says will be added to the Outlook email client. We have already reported on some upcoming features this past week like Outlook themes generated by AI via Copilot, and that a previously announced offline email sync feature would become available by the end of December in preview.

• This week on the roadmap site, Microsoft stated more advanced mail merge features are coming to the new Outlook Windows app as well as on the web in April 2025.
• Outlook for Windows and the web will add another new feature in December which will let users "manually insert a signature into a calendar event" as they currently can in the "classic" Outlook Windows app.
• Also in December, the iOS and Android mobile Outlook apps will finally allow those versions to sync up the order of their folders so they are the same as the order on the other Outlook apps that they use.
• Microsoft Teams will also get some improvements in December for admins across all of its platforms.
• In November, the desktop and Mac versions of Teams will get some Copilot AI bot chat improvements.
• Teams for the desktop and Mac platforms will also get some time clock improvements in November that will include a 'more comprehensive and detailed view of your scheduling data."
