Microsoft says it has resolved a persistent bug that caused Microsoft Defender to incorrectly tell the user that the “Antivirus is turned off”. This bug has been affecting Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows Server machines. While it is a minor bug, it has likely caused users to become confused about the state of protection on their machine.

The issue has been affecting systems since August 28 and caused notifications to trigger upon system startup and intermittently after. It even ignored attempts to mute the notification via system notifications. The issue is finally addressed as part of Microsoft Defender update version 4.18.26080.4, which was deployed on Thursday.

So I spent hours yesterday going back to a 3 month old full system backup just to ensure Windows Defender was to report On again
🤦‍♂️ Thankfully I had retained current daily copy of essential stuff. I wish I'd known it was just a bug
😧 Anyway, up and runnning again now but I seriously thought something was messed up as none of the tricks were working.

That's why you need to post everything that happens to you here in MT before taking any action so that we can track you, I mean, solve your problems. 😆
