New Update Microsoft Edge follows Google Chrome as it begins killing uBlock Origin and all such add-ons

Well they will, they live on advertising revenue / tracking & the more they can shove down your throat the better it is for them, any pathetic attempts to convince me of anything else falls on deaf ears big-time, the strange thing about the amount of Ad's we get, are people really daft enough to believe them? (duh) Ad's that are pushed at me if I accidentally see them are discarded anyway. Not much we can do about it these days though :p

Some people always believe them(or pretend to) when they(and similar entities) have such extremely poor track record.

It's completely expected and no one should be surprised. The code that was once maintained by the large Chromium team suddenly became responsibility of independent developers which now have to take care of it themselves and make sure it works with constant Chromium code changes. This wastes time and resources so instead of developing new features or fixing broken ones, independent developer now have to dedicate time for developing MV2 code.

Sooner or later all Chromium-based browsers will drop support for MV2, even Brave because it's not viable for them to maintain it.

The problem for me is not the content of ads. It is rather quantity and malicious behaviour. When you open a website and it keeps opening new windows or keeps redirecting you. This is the problem. And let's not forget about malvertising.

Brave doesn't need MV2 for its core functionality. Shields is built natively into Chromium with Rust it's not an extension, so MV2/MV3 is irrelevant to it.

It doesn't, but they keep MV2 functionality so uBlock Origin, AdGuard, uMatrix and similar extensions can keep working.

Unfortunately that's not the case either. Some browser and individual developers are trying to maintain MV2 but it is just a matter of time and it will stop.
They kept saying Edge has the resources to maintain MV2 independently, then boom, not doing.
Google is the one controlling this field.

Back to Firefox/Brave for general surfing and EDGE for shopping. Time to enable NextDnS system wide or Adguard or ControID.

I love the double speak bullshit from large corporations like Google/MS. No it's about security! HAhahahahAHh. But it's really about Add revenue.

My experience with Adguard is far from pleasant. High latency and downtime. Nextdns is much better at least on my end.
