If you are wondering why Microsoft thinks this is necessary, the company says that it "helps Microsoft 365 users be more productive by providing a single place to access Microsoft 365 Copilot features and capabilities, including search, chat, agents, and more."

Following the rollout of this update here is what will happen:
  • The Microsoft 365 Copilot app will be automatically installed on Windows devices that have Microsoft 365 desktop apps, unless administrators opt out.
  • The app will appear in the Start menu as a new entry point for accessing Copilot experiences across Microsoft 365.
  • On devices where the app is already installed, no visible change will occur.
  • The app installation is enabled by default and does not require user interaction.
Microsoft notes however that this change does not apply to customers in the EEA (European Economic Area).

Many students make through school only because of "AI" such as CoPilot.

They're already significantly addicted to social media, doom scrolling, and social media as their guide on who they are and how they should think.

They're already significantly dependent upon "Google Foo."

These are not tools. They are not productivity aids. Not when they are used in a way that undermines the mind and the person - which they all certainly do.

There are rumors that CoPilot's best features will be paid only - and there's a lot of people willing to pay yet another fee in their daily lives.

For enterprise, oh yeah. They're all-in on products like CoPilot - but not with an employee sitting in front of the system. They purchase a system with AI to manage the AI - for the express purpose of getting rid of as many employees as is possible.

WOPR next.

I have nothing against AI tools and I advise my students to use, among many other tools for education.
I just prefer adding AI components to other programs such as browsers and office suites to be optional, not obligatory.
