Earlier this year, Microsoft rebranded its SkyDrive service to OneDrive, and has been improving the service on a nearly monthly basis. With apps being updated constantly, free storage for those with an Office 365 subscription, and a bunch of other features being added, Microsoft is pushing OneDrive with all of its corporate power.

To keep the train moving, Microsoft has announced that if you use the auto-upload camera feature with its OneDrive platform, they will double your amount of free storage. To enable this feature, download OneDrive on your phone, sign-in with your Microsoft account, and enable the auto-upload feature; it's that simple.

Prior to this announcement, the company was offering 15GB but now you can get 30GBs for free if you enable this simple feature. If you haven't used this feature before, think of it as a free and simple way to back up all of your photos from your phone to the cloud.

In its post announcing this upgrade, Microsoft took time to take a poke at Apple who, for reasons only known to them, decided to offer the entry level iPhone with only 16GB of memory. With Apple putting the focus on its updated camera and video recording capabilities with the iPhone 6, 16GB will not hold up long.

Microsoft says that the additional free storage will be available for a limited time, so act quick if you want the free extra storage as we do not know when they will pull the offer.

Thanks for the heads up exterminator. :)

As I installed OneDrive onto my Android phone, I noticed that it said I would get an extra 3GB of storage by activating the auto-upload feature. Happily I checked afterwards and I have the full 30GB storage space. :p
