Windows Subsystem for Android is on the way out. In a somewhat surprising move, Microsoft decided to pull the plug on Android apps and end WSA support.

The announcement was published in the official documentation:
Microsoft is ending support for the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). As a result, the Amazon Appstore on Windows and all applications and games dependent on WSA will no longer be supported beginning March 5, 2025. Until then, technical support will remain available to customers.

Customers that have installed the Amazon Appstore or Android apps prior to March 5, 2024, will continue to have access to those apps through the deprecation date of March 5, 2025. Please reach out to our support team for further questions at support.microsoft.com.

We are grateful for the support of our developer community and remain committed to listening to feedback as we evolve experiences.

Maybe it's Amazon who's ending the partnership with Microsoft or Android in general and that's why they have to kill it. Otherwise, I don't see any reason for MS to cancel it as they were improving it always. If Google were on board with Microsoft, then they wouldn't even need Amazon to begin with and it would continue.

They put effort, they make noise around features and then they retire them. Oh well… to be honest with the sheer number of apps and with PWA not sure what was the point of supporting Android apps. It was an attempt of Microsoft to compensate for their mobile sector failure.
