Microsoft has released a patch update for PowerToys 0.70, which was released just over a week ago along with a couple of new PowerToys. However, some bugs were discovered in that release and therefore a patch was deemed important enough to release an update. it contains all of the features present in the previous release as well as a number of bug fixes that are listed below.
This is a patch release to fix issues in v70.0 to fix some bugs we deemed important for stability based on incoming rates. See v0.70.0 for full release notes.

Microsoft also added a warning about Mouse Without Borders potentially disabling service mode after upgrading to 0.70.1, the note is as follows:
Warning: Service mode in Mouse Without Borders might be disabled after upgrading and will need to be activated again.

PowerToys 0.71 gets a Windows 11 overhaul, archive preview with Peek, and more
It is update time for those using PowerToys on Windows 10 and 11. Version 0.71.0 is now available for download with numerous fixes, and improvements. Although this release does not contain any new utilities, it does add previewing the content of archive files through Peek, .reg files can be set to open by default in Registry Preview, and the PowerToys Settings has received a visual update to better match Windows 11 apps (only on Windows 11 it seems).

With the absence of new Toys, you'll be pleased to see there's a good number of fixes included in this release which are included below.

PowerToys 0.72 greatly reduces install size, adds mouse pointer highlighter, and more
PowerToys Version 0.72 is now available for download with numerous fixes, and improvements. Although this release does not contain any new PowerToys, it does add a new PowerToys Run plugin called Value Generator, that generates hashes and GUID values. In addition Mouse Highlighter adds a highlight that always follows the mouse pointer; PowerRename includes a bunch of fixes to make it more stable (less crashes) with a larger amount of files.

Aside from the new features within existing PowerToys, you'll be pleased to see the developers also managed to reduce the install footprint by a few hundred MB, and there's a good number of fixes included in this release...

Microsoft is working on a redesigned home page for PowerToys
Although the new home page for PowerToys is in the work-in-progress state, you can check out its early mockup in a screenshot below. Developers also want to hear your thoughts about the proposed UI and its features, so be sure to ping them on Twitter or GitHub.

PowerToys 0.73 adds new Crop and Lock utility, FancyZones improvements, and more
It is update time for those using PowerToys on Windows 10 and 11. Version 0.73 is now available for download with numerous fixes, and improvements. This version includes a new utility called Crop And Lock, it allows you to select an application and crop it into a smaller window or thumbnail. Keyboard manager now supports Numpad, FancyZones contains code improvements and refactor and more.

Here are the highlights of the update:
  • Keyboard manager now supports Numpad. Note, with previously bound hotkeys stored in settings.json would only react to non-Numpad keys now. If a user wishes to restore the previous behavior, it could be done by manually adding another binding for the Numpad variant.
  • New utility: Crop And Lock allows you to crop a current application into a smaller window or just create a thumbnail. Focus the target window and press the shortcut to start cropping.
  • FancyZones code improvements and refactor.
  • Modernized ImageResizer UX.
  • PowerRename advanced counter functionality.

Microsoft is getting ready to ship a new update for PowerToys, everyone's favorite set of utilities for Windows 10 and 11. Version 0.77 should introduce a new tool called "Command Not Found," and, according to developers, it will help you use PowerShell by suggesting packages to install upon detecting mistyped commands.

Microsoft has started rolling out version 0.77 with a new module and various fixes for existing utilities. The new module is called "Command Not Found," and it is here to help you use PowerShell by suggesting the missing packages when typing commands. For example, the utility can see that you try to execute "code" on a system without Visual Studio Code and then offer to download it using winget. Note that Command Not Found is turned off by default, plus it requires installing PowerShell 7.4.

Version 0.81 is now available for download with a new AI-powered feature called "Advanced Paste," which can convert something you copied to another format. For example, you copied some Python code and then it can convert it to C# with comments.

Microsoft pushed version 0.81.1 to the general public. It fixes a few bugs in the new Advanced Paste feature, which utilizes artificial intelligence to convert the content of your clipboard. For example, you can convert some code from one language to another. It is also worth noting that Advanced Paste works on existing hardware and does not require buying a Copilot+ PC.
PowerToys 0.81.1 also fixes the bug where the Run launcher would show the accent color on the title bar with that feature turned off in the Windows Settings app.
