That looks like the change log for the last version. I wish microsoft would be more forthcoming with information on the development of MSE.

Agree,the MSE team isn't very user friendly when it comes to "sharing informations with your users".I would expect from the leading security solution to share all the info about product updates.

Well its very hard to find a release notes when MSE released and yes I highly doubt that changelog was the last version.

I have not got this updateon my familys computer they are still on 2.0.567.0 Microsoft security essetials is reporting that everything is fine but it's a version behinde nor is anything in the update center about it. So should i just manually uninstall it and reinstall?

If you download the latest version from the MSE website the installer will upgrade the existing version on your PC. No need to uninstall it first.

With no real details on what's improved on the new version, the Microsoft team announced that on 20 July they will release a update for MSE.

Microsoft said:
As part of regular update of our antimalware technology to address the latest in the threat landscape, MMPC is planning to release a new antimalware engine on 20 July 2011.

Affected products: Microsoft Security Essentials, Forefront Client Security, Forefront Endpoint Protection, Windows Intune Endpoint Protection.

Engine Version will be in the range of 1.1.710X.0

New Antimalware Engine is planned for release on 18 Oct 2011

As part of regular update of our antimalware technology to address the latest in the threat landscape, MMPC is planning to release a new antimalware engine on 18 Oct 2011.

Affected products: Microsoft Security Essentials, Forefront Client Security, Forefront Endpoint Protection, Windows Intune Endpoint Protection.

Engine Version will be in the range of 1.1.780x.0

Even though that Microsoft issues Engine Updates to MSE and other Microsoft security products, I don't find any significant improvements. Maybe it's time for a new version. :D

Open the MSE UI, Click on the arrow next to the help icon and click on check for updates.
