Motorola, a Lenovo Company, announced the addition of new consumer and enterprise solutions to its portfolio today at Mobile World Congress. The company unveiled a partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation, to bring cutting-edge security to everyday users across the globe. In addition, Motorola introduced a new Moto Secure feature and Moto Analytics, to expand Motorola’s B2B ecosystem with advanced security and deeper operational insights for organizations across industries. These announcements reinforce Motorola’s commitment to delivering intelligent, and highly capable technology with enhanced security for customers worldwide.

GrapheneOS Foundation Partnership
Motorola is introducing a new era of smartphone security through a long‑term partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation, the leading nonprofit in advanced mobile security and creators of a hardened, operating system based on the Android Open Source Project. Together, Motorola and the GrapheneOS Foundation will work to strengthen smartphone security and collaborate on future devices engineered with GrapheneOS compatibility.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Motorola to bring GrapheneOS’s industry‑leading privacy and security‑focused mobile operating system to their next-generation smartphone”, said a spokesperson at GrapheneOS. “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in expanding the reach of GrapheneOS, and we applaud Motorola for taking this meaningful step towards advancing mobile security.”

By combining GrapheneOS’s pioneering engineering with Motorola’s decades of security expertise, real‑world user insights, and Lenovo’s ThinkShield solutions, the collaboration will advance a new generation of privacy and security technologies. In the coming months, Motorola and the GrapheneOS Foundation will continue to collaborate on joint research, software enhancements, and new security capabilities, with more details and solutions to roll out as the partnership evolves.

Moto Analytics
Today, Motorola also introduced Moto Analytics, an enterprise‑grade analytics platform designed to give IT administrators real‑time visibility into device performance across their fleet. Unlike traditional EMM tools that focus primarily on access control, Moto Analytics provides deep operational insights, from app stability to battery health and connectivity performance.

With this data, IT teams can troubleshoot more efficiently, prevent issues before they escalate, and maintain employee productivity. As part of the ThinkShield ecosystem, Moto Analytics integrates seamlessly with existing enterprise environments and scales effortlessly as organizations grow.

Private Image Data
Motorola is also expanding its Moto Secure platform with a new feature, Private Image Data. This tool gives users greater control over the hidden data stored in their photos. When enabled, it automatically removes sensitive metadata from all new camera images on the device, helping protect details like location and device information. This protection runs quietly in the background, preserving the image itself while clearing some of the private data attached to it.

Private Image Data joins a growing set of protections within the Moto Secure app, Motorola’s central hub for essential privacy and security tools powered by ThinkShield. From managing app permissions to securing sensitive files and monitoring device integrity, Moto Secure brings key Android and Motorola safeguards together in one place, making it easier for users to understand and manage their device’s security.

Private Image Data will begin rolling out to motorola signature devices in the coming months, with additional updates and refinements expected over time.

Motorola teaming up with GrapheneOS… who would have thought. A brand that always played in the “solid but not dazzling” league now dares to knock on the door of hardcore security. Maybe it’s just marketing, maybe it’s the start of something bigger, but at least it’s a move that breaks the routine. In a world where every photo and every piece of data is traded like currency, seeing a major manufacturer step closer to real privacy is already news. 🔒📸🌐

Motorola/GraphenOS devices planned for 2027.
 
Motorola is Chinese. Possibly also geo political reasons to have phones which are not dictated by US technology. Deepin Linux Distro was also supported with indirect funds from Chinese government. Like Russia developed Astra and Indoa BOSS Linux. I would have thought those economical and or political strong countries would have developed their own Phone OS long ago.
 
GrapheneOS says Motorola phones are on track to gain support for its privacy-focused operating system in 2027 thanks to Qualcomm’s hardware security improvements.

Currently, only Pixels provide the hardware security features and updates required by GrapheneOS. That's going to change in 2027 thanks to our partnership with Motorola Mobility and progress being made by Qualcomm.

Android 16 QPR2 calls for a secure element implementing rate limiting ramping up delays. It's 4 hours after 10 and 41 days after 15. Only 20 attempts are allowed. For usability, It rejects the most recent 5 unique failed attempts early to avoid wasting attempts on repeated errors. GrapheneOS only supports devices implementing the latest generation secure element rate limiting.

The secure element on the supported devices also has insider attack resistance. That's implemented by requiring the Owner user to successfully authenticate before the secure element firmware can be updated. A valid signing key and greater version number aren't enough alone. The purpose of this is preventing any government from bypassing the rate limiting by coercing the creation of a firmware update removing the rate limit.
Seems so odd on a Chinese phone, especially now with Samsung dropping OEM boot-unlocking worldwide (beyond North America). Knox seems to be just a marketing ploy😢.
 
Using grapheneos for years on pixel, it's like a governement secret phone protection, i've nothing to mask, just don't like to be spying all the time, for Motorola i used to like the brand years ago, now i found motorola build with no quality materials and few years of support (slow, slow updates) comparing to seven years of support for pixel and pixel get stock android (the most clean), that you can reinstall when you want!!!!!
 
💯 marketing but any effort to improve privacy is OK. But this is a middle finger to 5 eyes countries no doubt.

What I would love is GOS on a iPhone, never gonna happen but we all have dreams.
Would not that defeat the purpose of iPhone? iPhone is not Android and that's why people use it. It is not about privacy. iPhone are not more private than any other brand.

Yeah but the M4/M5 chips are unreal & beats any ARM64 including snapdragon, performance is top notch. But your right it would defeat the purpose of the iOS ecosystem. Good point.

They are not Chinese. They are American, with their headquarters being in Chicago Illinois. Lenovo bought them, and they are Chinese, but Motorola has nothing to do with them except ownership, meaning China cannot influence them.

So the ownership is Chinese, but they cannot influence them? How so? Isn't Opera the same? I have nothing against China and I do use Chinese products, devices and smartphones.

Apple never explained (can they?) how the backdoor in their chip fell into the hands of apparently [fill in your favorite here] intelligence agencies, providing a cog in a chain to launch zero-day attacks on their phones. It’s probably easier to get that sort of thing from your own compatriots through political, legal, and/or economic coercion.

For consumers without access to desirable resources/information, maybe it wouldn’t affect them that much, apart from turning their devices into attacking zombies. For others, it’s probably better to pick a side that’s more aligned with your country’s political leanings, unless it evades your privacy routinely.

Calling bullshit on that. I don't think Hamas has the technical capability to unlock locked iPhones. Most likely the locked access were accessed through torture.

They have a strong track record with that (torture and executing their own citizens if they think they are colluding or co-operating with Israel).

ROFL you have swallowed the kool aid. Hamas has zero capability to unlock locked iPhones. What are you drinking? I want some.

Anyway most of Hamas are buried under bombed & destroyed buildings. I doubt they are unlocking any iPhones because they are being picked up with a shovel.
