GPU is overclocked to what extend compared to stock GPU?

I assume this was a custom built desktop, so why the choice of not getting a dedicated GPU? Was it budget or was simply not needed?

It's overclocked to 14.0x processor graphics ratio limit using Intel extreme tuning utility.Default was 11.0 x. In every game i get around 3-4 fps boost & if i use gamebooster i get more 1-2 fps. I played call of duty advance warfare, battlefield 4 , crysis 3 like games in 1366x768 resolution ( medium settings) over 30-40 fps, playable for me. And i simply don't needed it since intel HD 4600 can still play modern games & not all games are high demanding like CODAW plus i play game sometimes, normally i use it for vmware. I'll buy AMD R9 280 or gtx 970 next yr.

All these cards are good money for value. If you want Nvidia you don't really need to go for the 960 or eventually 970. Earlier 900 series are good but bit pricey. 800 series perform well as well but it's a choice you have to make. You will need to find a decent balance.

I do have Intel graphics enabled but I tend to switch it to dedicated gpu for better performance despite not running in full high/ultra settings.

AMD R9 290 is costly here compared to Nvdia gtx 970, 270x will getting old after 1 yr so either R9 280 or gtx 970 lol, i won't buy graphic card this yr coz i have a lot studies to do. Next yr i'll be free

Thing about Graphic cards: just because 1 year later they are old doesn't mean they are not good money for value in terms of performance.

Currently at present, GTX 980 only outperforms GTX 780 slightly and unless your an avid hardcore gamer, you will not notice much changes.

Sure the 980 compared to 780 has around 30 or 35% higher clock speed and over 50% higher pixel rate. Memory is 4GB vs 3GB.

But then again, 780 is still a decent price tag for the type of card.
