Either it is sent for repairs or it was received by a customer and he simply did not like it and it is sent back for check up before re-sell. You take your chances. The term may have a slightly different legal meaning in India. In India, the law requires the seller to inform the buyer of the warranty offered. This particular machine has a 6 month warranty, as opposed to a usual 1 year warranty for brand new items in the US . I have seen warranties for refurbished items for only 3 months in US, so you are not getting a bad deal. It is a 8th Generation Core i7-8550U from 2017 with a Passmark score of 5883. Amazon.in
If you go 1 generation below to 7th generation, the difference in performance is very noticeable: approximately -2000 point difference.
When compared with the 2022 Ryzen 5 which I previously found for you, the Passmark performance score difference is a huge drop and cannot be compared because these last few years has seen a sudden huge performance increases for AMD Ryzens, surpassing Intel. But with this i7, when compared to your present i3, you will get much better multitasking performance running multiple programs at once, you can have more browser tabs open to very active web sites, and youtube performance will be good with good resolution. This Lenovo comes with Windows 10 Pro which is worth approximately $90 extra. (which you can upgrade to Win 11 Pro for free yourself ). It should last you 3+ years. And the cost is INR17899 which is INR12101 less than your original budget of 30000, Remember to tell your parents to maybe expect another upgrade later in a few years time maybe because of big upcoming technology change and that you have saved them a lot of money.
