Looking at the signatures folder in my Avast Free VM which I last opened and updated in August 03 before tonight, it seems August 2 is the date when their main definition folder which contains the full signatures was updated the last time. The name of the current version folder is, "24080204" where 24 probably means the current year, 08 is probably the current month and 02 should be the date when it was released. Not sure what 04 refers to. So, August 2, 2024. Since then, it's been only streaming updates. If I'm not wrong, I think they usually update their main definition folder once/twice per day. When it's released, all the streaming updates on your device which has now become part of the main signatures are removed and new streaming updates for the day starts downloading. For whatever reason, the method of combining streaming updates to the main definition hasn't happened since the 2nd of August. Maybe it's a bug that they are working on, or they have decided that it's not useful to update the whole database folder daily. The streaming updates are tiny. This is the size at the moment of all streaming signatures combined since August 2: @Trident pointed out a few days ago in this or another thread that last month an Avast patent has been granted that enables them to reduce the size of their signatures. This case could be or could be not related: https://patents.justia.com/assignee/avast-software-s-r-o#:~:text=Reducing%20malware%20signature%20redundancy Check if your Norton 24 folder has these streaming signatures files. If yes, everything should be okay. On Avast it's located at: "C:\Program Files\Avast Software\Avast\defs" Also, Avast UI accurately shows current date and time for signatures:
