Hello everyone,

The latest release, Opera Developer version 103.0.4906.0, has a bunch of improved features and enhancements for your browsing experience. Note that this version doesn’t include Linux support.

Here are the key changes that come with this new version:

Enhanced Password Generator UI
We’ve revamped the password generator UI to align with Opera designs, for both a user-friendly and secure experience (DNA-103648).

Refined Tab Island Handling
Now, clicking on the tab island handle twice in rapid succession selects the first tab in the island, ensuring smoother tab management.

Splash Screen Enhancement
The annoyance of the splash screen appearing with every browser restart (DNA-109498) has been resolved. Now you can get to browsing without any unnecessary interruptions.

Island Tab Management
To further streamline your multitasking experience, you can now find the option “Create new tab in island” in the tab island handle’s context menu (DNA-109767).

Enhanced Audio Support
Opera Developer now supports AC-3 and EC-3 audio formats through ATAudioDecoder (DNA-110073). This ensures compatibility with a broader range of multimedia content.

Improved Mouse Event Capture
DNA-110130 enables the capture of mouse events on the 1-pixel edge to the right of the web view, improving precision and responsiveness in your browsing interactions.

Speed Dial Improvements
From the Opera start page, you can now open speed dials as islands (DNA-110200). This change makes it easier to manage and access your frequently visited websites.

Address Bar Enhancements
Address bar buttons and extensions no longer get cut off when the window width is too low (DNA-110725), giving you a polished visual experience.

Streamlined Sidebar App
Sidebar apps no longer increase in size with each reopening (DNA-110720), providing consistent usability for your browsing tools.

Home Button Returns
DNA-110874 brings back the beloved Home button, making it easier to navigate to your preferred starting point.

Visual Enhancements
Opera Developer features improved visual elements, including rounded edges for the ‘+’ button in the tab strip (DNA-110842) and various UI refinements (DNA-110669, DNA-110876, DNA-110891).

Bug Fixes and Performance Optimization
This version also provides numerous bug fixes, and the performance page is re-enabled in settings when the #memory-saver feature flag is enabled (DNA-111040), enhancing the browser’s efficiency.

Upgrade your browser and experiment

Are you on the lookout for the latest technologies? If you feel like being an innovator, we invite you to try our newest browser features and experiments in our Opera beta and Opera developer releases. We update these two versions every few weeks. Be the first to test-drive the latest innovations before they get to the final version of our browser!

Why so many Opera Browser versions?
Opera Browser for computers has a rapid, iterative development cycle. This means that most updates go through three stages.

First, as early experiments, they are introduced in the Opera Browser developer stream. Then, when they are more stable, they move on to Opera Browser beta. Finally, after we’ve polished them, we release them in the stable version of Opera that most users rely on on a daily basis. You can read about the latest additions to Opera Browser beta and Opera Browser developer on our Desktop team’s blog.

Advanced user? Experiment with Opera developer
This is the earliest experimental roll-out of our browser innovations, and not all of the experiments will move on to the next stages. Please note - because the new features in Opera developer are so raw, they can be unstable and even crash your browser. Test with caution! This is the version for you only if you’re a developer, advanced user or enjoy living on the edge.

Best for day-to-day use: Opera’s stable version
If you don’t feel that adventurous and prefer stability over experimenting, your best choice for day-to-day browsing is the stable Opera browser. The latest version is always available for download at the product page. If you already run Opera, it’ll automatically update to the new version once it’s available.

Opera beta: Preview the features planned for the final version
This is the version for you, if you want a sneak peak of the features we have in store for final release in Opera browser, while we’re still on getting everything right. Opera beta is one step away from the final version, but still a work in progress. We usually take a couple of weeks to polish the beta version before promoting it to the stable release stage.

Or ... Use all 3 Opera browsers in parallel!
Each of the browsers is a separate installations, so you can use the different versions in parallel: developer, beta and stable. The product icons illustrate the Opera browser development cycle, making it easy to tell them apart.
