I noticed there's a new "anti-exploit" setting in Panda Dome free. Worth a re-test to see if it does anything?

Panda Security's new anti-exploit technology has optimized its security solutions significantly and allows the company to detect viruses no other company can detect.

This technology detects and neutralizes malware like Blackhole or Redkit that exploits zero-day vulnerabilities (in Java, Adobe, MS Office, etc.), before it infects the computer.

The key to detecting as-yet-unknown exploits is to use heuristic technologies with powerful detection capabilities. In this sense, Panda's new anti-exploit protection analyzes how exploits behave instead of their morphology.

Your Panda product uses multiple sensors to send Collective Intelligence information about the behavior of suspicious files that try to exploit 0-day vulnerabilities to infect PCs.

This information allows Panda Security to keep the proactive technologies included in its products constantly up-to-date (via on-the-fly updates from the cloud).

Summing up, your Panda product is designed to detect and neutralize this type of malware before it has been identified (and even created), protecting users against new malware variants

Looking at Panda's portfolio, I noticed sth stupid. The Dome Essential version lacks the Anti-ransomeware module. This module is only available in higher tiers.

But doing some research this module failed miserably.

I will try the Essential on my laptop for some time and see how it goes.

I'm thinking of 25 yeas or so ago, time does not have much meaning to me I reckon, the Panda of then founded in 1998 would have been totally different to today's offering in every way, as all Av's were then

I just read: 'In 2005, Panda Security was the fourth largest antivirus vendor worldwide, with 3.2% of the marketplace'

Today's version IMHO is maybe the worst AV out there in many ways after trying it last year out of pure morbid curiosity :)
Maybe it was used because it was a pioneer in cloud protection. Panda was one of the first to adopt this technology.

Edit:

Panda was the first security vendor to offer cloud-based protection in 2008.

This please disregard my comment. @Sorrento talked about over 10 years before 2008

Panda was one of the first few but it was Trend Micro who pioneered cloud with Smart Protection Network (SPN)

Around Q2 of 2008. But SPN has been in the work for many years. I still remember one of our Lead in TrendLabs and he said "in the coming years things will move to the cloud".

Yes, and that happened with the 2011 version when Trend switched from PC-Cillin to Titanium ;)
Panda was the first to go 100% cloud-based with PrevX
