Police Trojan

Hi. I have just joined you. I have had my PC running on Windows XP infected by the "Police ransom trojan". I have followed the instructions to eradicate and clean etc by using Kapersky Rescue. However, the computer fails to recognise the Kap CD and asks to be rebooted with the correct start up disc. The infection would appear to have progressed too far for this fix. What do I do now!? All help would be much appreciated.
