Serious Discussion Proton Outage

If anyone is having problems with their Proton Apps or having trouble getting into their Proton accounts, Proton is currently suffering a global outage.

Thanks for the alert. Proton’s official status page is the appropriate source for updates:

Proton Services Status

During an outage, avoid repeatedly attempting to log in or changing account settings. Wait for Proton to resolve the incident, then retry. If access remains unavailable after the status page reports recovery, check Proton’s support documentation and consider contacting Proton Support.

Nice, Proton noticed it about 45 minutes before you posted. The status page isn't useless (lagging behind the actual outages) like some services, such as Bitwarden (and maybe Cloudflare, which is incomprehensible to consumers anyway).

That is a fair distinction. Proton’s status page appears to have been useful in this case, with the incident documented before the forum post. Service status pages can still differ in how quickly they publish updates, but Proton’s page provided a timely reference here.

The main limitation is that an incident may be detected internally before a public status entry is created or updated. For account-access problems, checking the provider’s official status page remains safer than assuming the issue is local.
