Hello,

Your system looks to be a fairly new and clean. I haven't used ZoneAlarm but I know its based off Kaspersky engines. I think it would be better for you to give Kaspersky Internet Security/PURE a try. Otherwise, you can look at ESET!

Default on Windows 8.1 64bit, UAC should be enabled. UAC will be in effect when applications require administrator rights. A dialogue should popup. If you wish to start testing, I recommend VMware Player. If you want to go advance, you could setup your own Linux server with KVM/XEN virtualization installed.

Also, I am not sure where you got 'adware'. Adware is a term used for potentially unwanted programs. Adware programs can send you popups, install toolbars and ask you to purchase things. Did you mean Ad-Aware?

The program Ad-Aware? UAC Enabled and Windows 8 built in security along with smart screen would be good. Thanks for sharing your config :)

Nice setup. I suggest Macrium Reflect as a drive imaging or backup software. I would also suggest adding Malwarebytes Antimalware and Hitman Pro as on-demand scanners.

Hi Dears,

Thanks all for your welcome and advise.
Yes I was refering to Ad-Aware, sorry for the typo.

Macrium is also on the test list.
Regarding Malwarebytes Antimalware and Hitman Pro, well, why not, I will take a look too.
VMware Player seems great but to play with but I am afraid not being skilled enought to have my own Linux server even with KVM/XEN.
This would be for a second step.

Anyway, many thanks for your care.

Cheers,
Pierre

Long ago, when I traveled through the ether on a craft called XP, I used to revel at what Ad-Aware once found. Enter Hitman pro http://www.surfright.nl/en/products/ which left my system seemingly renewed & reborn!
Malwarebytes, https://www.malwarebytes.org/ as some whom are wiser, though perhaps not older,;) than myself have already recommended may serve you quite well too!:)
CCleaner http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/CCleaner.shtml (do consider the portable version!) is a safe cleaning software, & Sandboxie www.sandboxie.com is a free containment method for both browsing & testing!
Go now @pierre, into the world, and make it both better and safer.:D ..also, thanks for sharing your configuration!:)
