They may write good malware, but my point is that some of them are limited to asia, and products like Qihoo may be focusing on detecting local threats. After all that's their major target market. Gaining international reputation would be a secondary bonus.

They have a Disneyland over in China too. No need to venture abroad.

I don't know. After all we have localized Windows for them, and they would choose native language products whenever possible. There would have to be software that they have not copied/translated and the temptation to obtain it illegally would be there and the high foreign exchange rate would make them do more piracy. Where there is greed, there's an opportunity for cybercriminals. But I imagine it would be difficult primarily because the 70% of the population still don't understand English to use our software.

Russia, China, Vietnam, Thailand, India, and Iran are among the leaders of this field; most of the available stuff in our region is just copies of their production.
They are not in isolation from global malware environment.

That's very true. I forgot that it is a priacy haven. I guess they would be helpless against our malware and have to format their SSD very often

Well with Gen: D buying everything up, and adding all others who have enough revenue to improve their product, and increase staffing, the field is winding down to a handful of names for the Windows PC owners...

Possible scenario Gen D plants malware on GOV PC's making it look like it came from Kaspersky...Got rid of that competitor, we couldn't buy, and who wouldn't give access thru backdoor to the GOV.

They provide us with cracked versions of K, ESET, Avast, AVG, and many others; they are very efficient

Side note: I think you will find Asian pirates and the scene over there download the same rips (movies and music) normal Westerners do from different torrent sites and burn them to disk to sell in shops or street stalls/ or share them with friends. There were some very big Chinese torrent sites 10 years ago specializing in HD movie and TV rips but have since closed, influenced no doubt by their governments displeasure.
