Based on Android-x86 project, about time someone attempts such move into the PC, however I have a feeling it will not take off as desired due to when you mention Android, people think Kernel and that itself translates to Linux.
If you mention Remix OS or any name followed by OS, people automatically assume Linux

Also, lets not forget that there is a Linux Distro that is trying its best to mimic chromebook UI, to a certain extend.

Basically, will be the same like it happened with Elementary OS. all bells and whistles in the beginning and now basically forgotten or people don't even know that they have their own Desktop Environment and confuse it with GNOME 3
