RemoveThaeAdAopp somehow got installed, I'm thinking it hitchhiked on something. Whenever I try to open ANY links, I have numerous unrelated pop-ups and the actual link has to be re-clicked. I can't remove RemoveThaeAdAopp because it says it is "managed and cannot be removed or disabled" and I can't find any of its file extensions or an installer or anything for RemoveThaeAdAopp itself. It is also preventing me from downloading other programs by re-routing me to sites with invalid or expired certificates and making me download additional unwanted programs with whatever I try to install.

Honestly, I noticed a lot of pop-ups and non related ads for months but it wasn't until I updated my OS about a week that everything became almost unusable.

I tried to restore the system to before I updated but it didn't make a change. I also tried to uninstall RemoveThaeAdAopp from my browser window as well as removing it from the computer itself but aside from in the browser I cannot find any evidence of it.

I wanted to try and eliminate i myself but I'm having a VERY hard time downloading or saving anything (including pictures?!) without other odd piggy-back programs attempting to download themselves.

When I try to download the files I am brought to a site with an expired certificate and I need to download a program before I can have access to download the files I need. Is this correct?

Open Control Panel and remove the following:
- Software Version Updater

Then:

Download attached fixlist.txt on the same location as FRST (otherwise the fix won't work)
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

Open FRST, and click Fix. Attach me that report after it is finished.

Then:

Please download zoek.zip or zoek.rar by smeenk (
Zoek_icon.png
) from here or here and save it to your Desktop.
Unpack the archive...
  • Close any open browsers
  • Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program. (If necessary)
    If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.
  • Double click on zoek.exe to run the tool .
    Please wait while the tool does not start...
  • Copy the text present inside the code box below and paste it into the large window in the zoek tool:
    NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

    Code:
    autoclean;
    emptyclsid;
    emptyalltemp;
  • Click on
    Run%20Script%20by%20zoek.png
    button.
    Please wait until a logreport will open (this can be after reboot)
  • Save notepad to your Desktop and attach here zoek-results.log
    Note: It will also create a log in the C:\ directory named "zoek-results.log"

Where is the fixlist.txt file mentioned above that I am supposed to download? I do not see it attached to the message.

Zoek opens a window and closes it instantly. There is nowhere for me to enter information or choose any commands. I ran it after the install, I restarted my computer and I shut down and rebooted my computer: always the same thing. It created 2 files that are *.tmp.

Is there a way to force it to run and remain open?

Not good, you haven't disabled your antivirus properly. Before you proceed, you have two antivirus products installed, McAfee and Avast. Please uninstall one of them.

Yes, I used them both. I couldn't find Avast, but I has the program work on my windows file and my program files file, which is the only place I would have put avast in the first place. Did it not work?
