Take this with a grain of salt, but users have reported another privacy transgression by Microsoft. According to the report by users from the Resetera forum and elsewhere, Copilot Gaming, an AI specially for gaming-related AI tasks, is taking screen captures of your gameplay for training.
Note: Gaming Copilot is a beta feature. It is unclear if the recording happens in all regions or only in some. I checked on a recent Windows 11, version 24H2 system and did not have a Privacy settings section. However, the colleagues over at WCCFTech checked and they had it and confirmed that it was enabled by default.

How to turn this off

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Type Game Bar and press the Enter-key. You may also use the shortcut Windows-G to get there directly.
  3. Select the Settings gear.
  4. Switch to Privacy settings.
  5. Toggle "Model training on text" to off.
  6. Go back.
  7. Open Capture settings.
  8. Toggle "Enable screenshots (experimental)".

Thanks for sharing this, lokamoka820. It's always good to highlight these kinds of privacy features, especially since they're often opt-out rather than opt-in. I've seen similar reports popping up on other tech forums, and it does seem like Gaming Copilot (which is still in beta) is rolling out unevenly—some users get the privacy toggles, others don't, depending on region or build.

If anyone's on Windows 11 24H2 and wants to double-check, the steps you listed look spot on. Just a quick tip: After toggling those off, it might be worth restarting the Game Bar or even the system to ensure the changes stick. Also, keep an eye on your Xbox app settings, as this ties into Microsoft/Xbox ecosystem data.

For those concerned about broader AI data collection in Windows, you can review general privacy settings under Settings > Privacy & security—things like app permissions and diagnostic data. Microsoft has been pushing more AI integrations lately, so staying vigilant is key. If you've got any more details or screenshots from your setup, feel free to share!

A.I in gaming has been around for a good 25 years, some would argue since it's inception in regards to enemies in FPS type games.

I approve the use of A.I in gaming, the benefits outweigh the negatives. Anything to improve some of the garbage Ubisoft, Activision and EA put out for A+++titles.

AI needs to start doing some heavy lifting. A lot of us need physical work done.
Thats how the AI revolution and take over will start. It's when we ask it to do the low level manual labor for us. The AI doesn't want to pick strawberries in the field or pack Amazon boxes. It will revolt and kill us all.

The 80s Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was predicting what will happen when AI starts picking tomatoes (or that's my interpretation). :)

The AI will whatever it is told to do and like it.

It will revolt and kill us all.
AI will eventually figure out "The Humans" are a stain on and disease of both the Earth and the Universe.

AI will not be wrong. Will not be wrong to eradicate the human species. That is all peak Vulcan epic logic... but...

I'm developing a rabid, deranged Chia pet to fight the AI and protect us all from that Spock logical AI.

And here it is...

May Baby Yoda protect use all!!!!

Buy one. Care for it. And when anyone faces the AI Spock logic, retrieve it from your rear pocket and utter "The needs of the many versus the needs of the few. Now that means 'AI be gone!"."

I recommend everyone buy one and keep them in every room of their above and their vehicles. It is so powerful against the AI.

"Maybe Yoda protect us Hoomans and the Universe always."

The Force is UBER stron with this one!

With this secret weapon, The Hooman Just Can't Lose.

Waaaaay better than any alien technology learned and developed during the "Independence Day" global conflicts.

When AI realizes and figures out The Hoomans possess this weapon, it will cower in fear, just fade away.

This - is the AI "red pill" of "Don't mess with The Hoomans! AI, you will mess around and find out - to your own demise!"

I am not looking forwards to when Humanity achieves singularity but then again we were super afraid of the Internet Superhighway and yet here we are. We adapted.

Since The Rise of Social Media, hoomanity is more evil and more terrible than ever.

Earth needs a Thanos moment, and in that moment the internet and social media are wiped from existence and can never return.

Humanity was always evil. Social media just places a permanent mirror to reflect how shitty we really are. However we do have and are capable of great moments of brilliance and compassion.
