I do not know anything about computer security, I just use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. I have never had a problem that I know of, but I am real curious to learn new things about computer security, (that is why I'm here).

I do not back up my system drive because I have fun setting it up. I only have about 2 dozen programs that I have installed, so setting up my system drive only takes a couple of days. I have multiple backups of my data because I have over 3 terabytes of music and family pictures that date back to the 1880's as well as financial documents. In fact I have several physical back ups stored in various locations.

I hope that this is enough information for right now, but I will update this when I can.

I do not know for sure if they are added in real time protection. I think that they already are but I will try to figure it out.

Windows Defender is MBAM is if you bought paid. Sorry for confusing you I meant the security config fill in there should be a "real time protection" area you forgot to fill in. :)

Thanks for joining :) You will find a lot of help here to get your config setup even as a novice user.
I edited your config to include Defender and Malwarebytes Antimalware as your real time protection.
If you are using the free version of Malwarebytes then it does not provide any real time protection.
Do you have Smartscreen enabled ? if you do not know do the following:
Code:
right-click the Start menu button and select Control Panel from the context menu. Then, with the category view enabled, navigate to System and Security > Security and Maintenance. Select Change Windows SmartScreen settings from the left-side pane
You will want to make sure the following highlighted option is ticked
Ashampoo_Snap_2016.08.12_17h14m13s_001_.png

If it is click cancel if the other option is ticked(don't do anything) change it to the first option and click "OK"

Windows 10 built in security is good but it's strength comes from UAC,Windows Firewall,Defender & Smartscreen. If any are not used then it decreases it's protection.

It is advisable to have decent real time protection when doing Online Banking and Bill payment.

On demand scanners are programs that do not run in real time but that you can run a scan when you want to.This is also advisable to use in case your real time protection misses something.

A system back up plan is a good idea but if you are a novice user I think getting a good grasp on real time protection,on demand scanners as well as some browser extensions and a good password manager is the first order of business.

Thanks for sharing your config!!

Hello Rocky Bennett. I agree, and encourage your following exterminator20's instructions
:rolleyes:above.;)

A must have extension (in my humble opinion) is called uBlock Origin (rather than uBlock) for it is currently maintained by uBlock's "origin-al" developer. Out of the box, it is a blocker that can improve your Firefox browser's performance while also protecting you from unwanted adds & even malware sites. You can read further, and get it, here:

Thanks, I installed that extension and it seems to be just what I was lacking. Nice to have it working for me.
