And there is no GUI changes , no added benefit and nothing added to the software itself other than you can back up and recover a little bit faster that warrants the price increase and the change in licensing model by forcing everyone who purchased a perpetual license to now pay a yearly fee. Yes is is straight up corporate greed.
In my instance, the speed of backup has changed from just under 30 seconds to around 11 seconds, certainly a worthwhile increase, the restore speed is to fast to measure - Hardly 'a bit faster' and I was on annual plan anyway which frankly is up to me 😁

Doesn't really matter , I have a lifetime license of Terabyte Image for Windows also , I just upgraded my 3.xx lifetime license to 4.02 which was recently released for a fraction of what Macrium wanted from me, all while keeping my lifetime license ..... no subscriptions.

BTW ... one can purchase a lifetime license of Terabyte Image For Windows 4.02 , the entire suite for a fraction of what Macrium is charging for it's three year subscription license, lifetime license includes all updates to the next major version. They offer 50% discounts on major version upgrades , just got mine for around $25 that will be good for the next five years or so (that's how long ago I purchased V3). For those looking to dump the Macrium upgrade subscription debacle, Terabyte is every bit as good and reliable as Macrium.

Good grief, now I would not blame anyone for finding another program. I finally went to install the new Macrium, only to find that my four new X licenses had vanished from my Macrium account. I contacted support and they said that they could not even find my account. I sent them pics of my account, and of my new licenses from an email. Macrium, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER! Waiting for response ...

Don't forget, IFW can be used on 5 machines whereas Macrium X can only be used on one.

I've used macrium for years (4pack home) been reliable, and in the 2 times I've needed to restore from hd/ssd failure its worked perfectly.....
that said id not be willing to pay yearly for this privilege (i hate subscription) but can see why most big companies love it...... its easy money for them and subscription is one of the best forms of piracy protection/data gathering.

anyway my macrium v8.1 will stay going as long as it can (im on 24h2 and all is ok) but when it goes there are plenty of alternatives, one free one I've not seen mentioned here which I use on my works laptop is Veeam

its truly free, slightly limited, but is an amazing product for no cost. (in case anyone is looking for a truly reputable backup company with a free solution)

Ok, a follow-up on my above post #44. Everything appears to be fixed now. All of my new X licenses have returned to my "non-existent" account. However, I never heard back from Support, I don't know what happened to make all of this happen. Earlier, they did state that the User Portal is a fairly new system but I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
Anyway, now to install one of these bad boys.

Today I installed version X on 2 PCs and a notebook. The program works without any problems. The backup images are a little smaller than with version 8. The speed changes are contradictory. A little faster on one device, a little slower on another. It is difficult to judge because the speed has always depended on how full the SSDs were that I saved the image on.
