Solved Router Firewall Help

[Overkill]

I have Verizon's Router and I'm wondering are there any tweaks I could make to secure it better or are default settings secure enough?
Hopefully some of you have experience with their Routers.

I have no experience at all with Verizon's Router, I don't have Verizon in my area.

Strong router password and MAC filtering at the very least.
I cannot begin to tell you how to achieve that as I use Linksys.
Be certain that all of your encryption capabilities are implemented.
