The latest Rufus update lets you copy regional settings and create a local Windows account

Rufus, a popular third-party app for creating bootable media, has received yet another wonderful update. Version 3.20 BETA introduces the option to create a local offline account and copy regional settings from the current Windows installation. The only caveat here is that the account creation feature can only make a user with the same name as the current one and a blank password. After the first reboot, Windows will prompt you to change the password.

Here is the rest of the changelog containing other bugfixes and improvements:
  • Enable applicable Windows User Experience options for Windows 10
  • Make Windows User Experience options persist between sessions
  • Add automatic local account creation and regional options duplication. (This is limited to creating an account with the same name as the current user and with an empty password that the user will be prompted to change after first reboot.)
  • Add a workaround for ISOs that have a syslinux symbolic link to /isolinux/ (Knoppix).
  • Revert to offline insertion of registry keys for the TPM/SB/RAM bypass where possible.
  • Remove storage bypass, since this is a bogus bypass that doesn't do anything.
  • Improve BIOS compatibility when displaying the "UEFI boot only" alert message.
  • Fix Windows User Experience dialog appearing twice for Windows To Go.
  • Fix Windows User Experience options not being applied for ARM64.
  • Fix Microsoft Account bypass not being applied unless TPM/SB/RAM bypass is selected.

Rufus, the popular utility used for preparing Windows bootable media, among other things, has run into a major issue. Apparently, Microsoft seems to have blocked its ability to download ISOs via the help of Fido script. The Fido script is based on PowerShell and basically automates access to Microsoft official download links.

A GitHub user voltagex noted the issue when they were unable to download Windows 10 21H2 Build 19044.1288 with an error saying "Could not retreieve architecture from server".

Any idea why Rufus removed the functionality that allowed to Create Windows 11 bootable USB drive with TPM and Secure Boot checks disabled?
rufus-3.17 still has that options:

Well, this function is still possible even on all other versions of Rufus, developers just changed when you can choose this options, at the end after press START you should see this window appears like on screenshot: Windows User Experience

Rufus gets updated Fido script to fix broken Windows ISO downloads

Rufus, one of the most popular tools for creating bootable Windows (and other operating systems) drives, can also download Windows ISO files directly from Microsoft. The built-in Fido script makes Rufus an all-in-one app for those needing a USB drive to clean-install Windows.

Microsoft apparently is not happy with third-party apps accessing its servers, so it frequently places various blocks. The developer behind Rufus and Fido is not giving up, and they always find a way to bypass Microsoft's countermeasures. Fido 1.39 is now available, letting users once again download Windows ISO files.
Rufus automatically updates the built-in Fido script, so users should do nothing to restore the ability to download Windows ISO files within the app.
If you use Fido separately from Rufus, download version 1.39 from the project's repository on GitHub.

Rufus 4.0 drops Windows 7 support
The developer of Rufus, a free Windows application to create bootable USB drives, has released Rufus 4.0 to the public. The new version of the application drops support for Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system. Rufus 4.0 requires Windows 8 or newer versions of Windows to run.

The developer notes that some users may run into updating troubles because of that. Windows 7 users may stay on Rufus 3.22, as it will continue to work. Rufus runs a daily update check by default, which users may turn off under Settings > Check for Updates. Adventurous users may include beta updates as well in the checks there.
Windows 7 users may check out Ventoy, an application offering similar functionality, as it is still compatible with the operating system.
