kb4589212 creating a boot loop ...Solved

Steps taken to resolve, but have been unsuccessful

DISM etc... but issue was solved

This update was installed today:

KB4589212: Intel microcode updates for Windows 10, version 2004 and 20H2, and Windows Server, version 2004 and 20H2 - Microsoft Support

Describes the latest microcode updates from Intel for Windows 10, version 2004 and 20H2, and Windows Server, version 2004 and 20H2.

As soon as I restarted my machine I had a Diagnosing PC boot loop.
After some research I found that turning off Secure boot and Fast boot off in my bios solved the issue and the update reinstalled properly without the loop ocurring
I don't really see a need for these to be enabled
What are your thoughts?

Fast boot is only there for your convenience. Your computer is healthier without it.
Secure boot is a security mechanism but not crucial for home users.

Fast boot = fake boot. Just another example, that MS is great in sabotaging its own software.

Personally, I would just temporary disable "Secure Boot" as I never got any issues, I still believe it's better a bit more safe than sorry...

I have secure boot back on now after installing that update..I tested installing with it on just now and I got the Diagnosing PC loop so pretty sure it was that

Fast boot (only changed in BIOS) is different than Fast Startup (can be turned on/off in Windows power plan options).

That's strange, I have both secure boot and fast startup enabled and kb4589212 installed without any problems

Strange I could not install that update when secure boot and fast boot were enabled in the bios.
I just want to clarify that it was fast boot in the bios not fast startup in windows
