Briefly explain your current issue(s)
occasionally when watching YouTube, speakers fail
Steps taken to resolve, but have been unsuccessful
try to reinstall audio drivers
10 sec speaker sound here
when failure occurs, windows entirely freezes
the only way is to force shutdown the laptop
so far cannot find errors on event log regarding audio

Lenovo Y50-70, Windows 10 64-bit, Realtek HD Audio and JBL speakers, Microsoft Edge

That's a difficult one to diagnose... even with the supplied file.

Your best option is to create a full memory dump using Sysinternals' ProcDump. Start dump immediately before running sound file, then allow to ProcDump to run for a short while before force shut-down.

The problem is - to whom do you send that memory dump ? Without definitive infos I have no idea if it is a Windows, audio driver, audio player, etc issue.

You have to send the memory dump to someone with the proper symbol files to interpret the memory dump. Otherwise it is useless and generating it is a complete waste of your time.

You're in a tight spot... with little recourse as far as I can tell. Perhaps another MT member might have better insight and recommendations.

If it is only this single sound file that causes the system freeze, then just don't use it !

I've lost my laptop's 1 speaker on Windows 10, weird sounds came and then boom. I saw smoke from left speaker and now its dead. I was just playing Mortal Kombat 9 while this situation and the sound level was low.

I'm not going back to Windows 10 until they fix the whole bugs.

1. I don't know when my speakers will fail
2. When the speakers fail, the entire OS is frozen

Also, the cause was YouTube with Microsoft Edge. I don't know if it's the browser's problem (it might, but reproducing the error will be very difficult).

What system and speakers were they?

Skill- This issue is going to be a pain for you to diagnose. Aside from possible driver/software problems the lack of anything substantive in the error log may point to a hardware issue (like a Motherboard on it's way to being hosed).

But- we do have a few coincidences (not that I believe in coincidence):

1). It occurred after you changed to Windows 10 (note I didn't say "upgrade"), and
2). It occurs with Microsoft Edge, and
3). It occurs when you use YouTube.

There may be something that would explain the above 3- Google had added some Scripting language to the YouTube web page a few months ago, and Edge doesn't have any setting to block the running of the scripts nor is there any addon to do this. This may lead to your computer being so bogged down a cold boot is needed (and the sound from the speakers may be electronic tears).

If my assumption is correct that although the issue is sporadic it would normally occur in 7 days, you can try this- Install Firefox and add the NoScript extension. then use FireFox EXCLUSIVELY for YouTube and give it a week.

Although this may not work, at least it will save you from obsessing about it for a while.

2. When the speakers fail, the entire OS is frozen

When this happens are you browsing by chance ?

The behavior you describe just might be a graphics driver issue. Let me explain, if you are browsing when the system freeze occurs, very often a graphics\video driver conflict is also accompanied by a sound system crash...

Anyone who has used Firefox and had a system crash while watching videos knows what I mean... the sound will start to crack randomly sometimes during video play or it will cut out... followed by OS freeze sometimes accompanied by BSOD.

I don't know if it's the browser's problem (it might, but reproducing the error will be very difficult).

If it is a graphics driver problem, then I can guarantee you that it will happen again while viewing YouTube with Microsoft Edge... you just might not be able to replicate it "at will."

Just a FYI, using Resplendence WhoCrashed is not always 100 % accurate in identifying the offending file... nor is Windows always accurate.

The only guaranteed accurate method is a full memory dump analysis.

IF you happen to get a BSOD then the system should be auto-configured to generate a mini-dump. The mini-dump will suffice as well. However, the problem remains - to whom do you submit the mem dump ?

Anyhow, if a BSOD occurs pay special attention to what Windows identifies as the cause of the system crash. It should appear at the middle of the BSOD screen. I keep a mental note and as soon as I reach the desktop I make a search for what was reported as the cause of the BSOD.

In your case, you just might want to keep paper and pencil handy to write it down. Write fast ! since the notification is on the screen for only a few moments...

Actually, sometimes when I play music with WMP and use the "Alchemy" visualization, the "Intel HD Graphics for Windows 8(R)" driver crashes and restarts itself (but the audio is fine). However, IIRC I have the new Intel HD Graphics 4600 driver that is compatible with W10.

If my assumption is correct that although the issue is sporadic it would normally occur in 7 days, you can try this- Install Firefox and add the NoScript extension. then use FireFox EXCLUSIVELY for YouTube and give it a week.
Ehh, tried to set up sync but Firefox kept on giving the annoying "Untrusted Connection" error. Should I try IE instead?

FYI, there is no BSOD (or I am just not patient enough to wait for one to come, probably because of the speakers).

I think it might be an Edge or graphics problem (they have caused problems/minor annoyances after upgrading to W10). And to reiterate, I do not know when the error will happen again, as it happens when the computer wants it to (except once it happened twice in a day).

In reliability history, found LiveKernelEvent (probably the shutdown).

You are using W10 with CIS or CFW. Right there is a problem - whether or not it is related to your reported issue. I know CIS states it supports W10, but at this very moment I am not confident that they have it all sorted out... something you might consider.

Get rid of the PC Tune Up for now. It might be deleting something that is causing system instability. For the sake of thoroughness I would just uninstall it... as you can always reinstall it later.

In any case, something is definitely wrong for your system to report so many apps stopped working. Some form of conflict is definitely occurring... but what ?

Maybe try uninstalling softs one-by-one until the issue no longer occurs ? The last one to be installed prior to restoring system stability is probably the culprit... but not always.

Difficult problem... you see ?

Did you consider to install any cumulatives updates as possible from Microsoft? I think it should consider to diagnose the hardware which why all of your applications suffer.

Sorry that picture was misleading (deleted). (I was just trying out different products- speaker failure is unrelated to the issues you saw).

Problem: YouTube completely freezes (new installation) Windows 10 Pro (64)
Browser: Firefox, Edge
Graphics: Browsers are run with Intel HD Graphics 4600
Monitor: 4k, 48 Hz

Certain videos can play all the way, whereas other videos will freeze the OS in a short time (maybe even a few seconds).

Culprits were almost always HD videos (some of them being 60 fps).

Intel HD Graphics 4600 recently seemed to crash a lot while I was browsing the internet (the driver's name was "Intel HD Graphics for Windows 8(R)", though Lenovo's website claims that it's compatible with 10). For some reason, sometimes the NVIDIA (960M) driver gets stuck in a crash loop.

Using Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. Maybe a graphics problem?

Well try to update your graphics through its available driver version to latest; usually it should fix those crashes and restarts.

You need to submit memory dump files to someone who can analyze them. Only in that way can the true cause of the BSODs be determined.

IF no one here at MT can do it, then I suggest sysnative.com or tenforums.com. The volunteers on those forums are dedicated and most are certified specialists. There are a number of threads about your issue on Tenforums.com.

Microsoft Support on DPC_Watchdog_Violation (133):

You obviously are not running W Server 2012, but at least it is a starting point for some kind of general infos.
