Greetings everyone! I'm happy to have found this site.

I'm getting the following error message and I thought maybe somebody may be able to help me.

Taskkill.exe - System Error
"The program can't start because dbghelp.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I had a problem in the past with dbghelp.dll trying to run Malwarebytes and the same message came up. This most recent time was when I tried to run Junkware Removal Tool. The Junkware Removal Tool's program's black box (looked like a DOS window) was able to come up, it said:
Press any key to continue...
Checking startup
Checking modules
Checking processes

but then it stopped nothing else happened.

Please advise about why I may be getting this error message regarding dbghelp.dll and how I might be able to repair it.

Many thanks in advance.

What Windows OS are you using? Windows 7,8,XP,Vista?

Did you try a system restore to a point prior to the error?

You can download and install CCleaner then run the registry cleaner (Yes to backup on pop up) it may be able to help by removing invalid dbghelp.dll registry entries that might be causing the error

Remove and reinstall any programs that when run give you this error

or run a sfc/scannow

Click Start
Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD
Click 'Run as Administrator'
At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow
Restart your system

If the problem continues try repairing Windows
1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD
2. Restart your computer
3. When asked if you want to boot from your DVD drive, do so.
4. Choose your language, click Next.
5. Click 'Repair your computer'
6. Select operating system you want repair.

Dear Exterminator20,

That's great. Thank you so much! I tried running the sfc/scannow as you suggested and it worked! It found a corrupted file and repaired it (I'm not sure what it was) but I was able to install Junkware Removal Tool and run it.

Much gratitude to you and all Santa's helpers at this wonderful website. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all of you :)

Love,
