I see there's a lot of other threads with this same issue recently. I've tried many of the fixes presented in the other threads and no luck so I'm going to try my own thread.
Just today, on 1/1/15, I noticed that my CPU and memory was getting ballooned up to very high (sometimes as much as 100%). In looking at processes, I can tell it's coming from a variety of files that all have one thing in common: They all originate from C:\Windows\SysWOW64. There's a big variety of files that are ballooning, some examples are: NAPSTAT.exe, regsvr32.exe, dllhost.exe, ctfmon.exe, fixmapi.exe, dllhst3g.exe
If I end the processes, they typically will launch again within a few seconds. Some of them even won't let me kill them, saying I don't have the permission to. After rebooting with after an Adwcleaner scan, they weren't launching and so I assumed they the issue had been resolved, but after pretty much approximately 2 hours of uptime, the processes started launching again.
Also, I assume this is related to the issue but I'm not sure: A little before the issue started happening, and still every now and then, I'll got a dialog box saying that Internet Explorer has crashed and needs to restart. This is very odd as I never use IE and it has never been opened (at least not by me) in the times that that pop-up is showing up. I'm assuming that means that something is launching it and it is crashing instantly.
