TotalAV is an all-in-one antivirus: Antivirus, VPN, Web protection, Adblock etc. However, TotalAV has some very dubious practices, such as nagging you to upgrade to the paid version... Let's put it to the test! User interface : The interface is very simple, suitable for novices. Very few settings are available, which may delight novices but put off geeks. On the other hand, TotalAV forces the user to checkout even though the trial version is not yet finished... Web protection: 8/8 All links have been blocked Fake crack : 1/1 Blocked at launch (Avira Cloud) Malware Pack : Remaining 36 out of 125 On launch, TotalAV correctly blocks threats, but doesn't indicate what the detection is, or which module it's reacting to! Which is a shame. A script was run but not connected, and the Trigona Ransomware encrypted the system. Final scan : Trigona Ransomware encrypted programs. Unable to run a scan. Final opinion: TotalAV has certainly improved, but offers fairly basic protection and doesn't inform you about the module it has reacted to. However, the numerous solicitations to pay for a license with very aggressive promotions sometimes border on harassment, which can frighten the user... (urgent need) TotalAV is also detected by Malwarebytes as a PUP, which can also damage its trustworthiness... For all these reasons, which I consider intolerable, I advise against using TotalAV.
