Trend Micro is a well-known Japanese IT security company.
Having already tested the home version, I'm expecting a good result from this version, which is aimed at businesses.
The interface is reminiscent of the early versions of Trend Micro (when it was called Titanium) and the product is well configured by default.
For test purposes, we decided to set it to its full potential.
Let's see how it fares.
User interface :
The interface is simple, reminiscent of older versions of Trend Micro for Home.
The administration console is simple and well thought-out, even if we did have connection problems...
The software is relatively light on the system, which is appreciated.
Web protection: 12/12
Trend Micro has blocked all malicious URLs.
Fake crack : 1/1
Trend Micro has blocked all installations of the fake crack.
Malware Pack : Remaining 31 files out of 141. - Infected - File Encrypted !
I wasn't expecting that.
Although the home version is more efficient, this business version is a real fiasco.
It got off to a good start by preventing various malware installations, but found itself up against FileLocker Ransomware, which managed to encrypt the entire machine's files without reacting.
It was therefore impossible to continue the test.
As this sample was known to several antivirus programs at the time of the test, it is unacceptable for Trend Micro not to have succeeded in blocking it!
I'm very disappointed...
Final scan : Impossible to analyse, the machine has been fully encrypted.
Final opinion:
Although the home version was effective in my test, I'm disappointed with the business version.
Despite an excellent start-up, Trend Micro was stupidly fooled by a FileLocker encrypting the entire machine, without reacting.
It's a pity, because it has a lot of potential, just like its home version.
I wouldn't recommend it at all.
